Gradable and Ungradable

The document discusses gradable and non-gradable adjectives. Gradable adjectives can take different degrees, like "tired", while non-gradable adjectives cannot, like "unique". Non-gradable adjectives are divided into strong adjectives, which are stronger versions of gradable adjectives, like "exhausted", and absolute adjectives that are either true or not true. Intensifiers are used with gradable adjectives to indicate degree but with non-gradable adjectives they are used for emphasis rather than degree. Several exercises are provided to classify adjectives and match gradable adjectives to their strong equivalents.
