DEFINITION OF INTERNSHIP
is an opportunity for supervised practical experience in a career or field of interest. The experience can help the students: Apply the theories learned from the school to actual and practical work setting. Immerse the students in the real work environment. Make necessary adjustments about a full-time job in a particular career. Gain valuable experience and confidence in your own skills. Meet people in the industry, and gain professional contacts.

INTERNSHIP POLICIES
Roles & Responsibilities of the Student: The student/s shall be responsible for contacting and arranging an internship placement with any company. An endorsement letter from the Internship Coordinator must be secured, which the student has to present to the company he/she is applying for. The student shall be responsible in preparing his/her Internship Rsum. The student must prepare two copies of Internship Rsum, provide one copy to the possible Company Supervisor and another copy to the Internship Coordinator

The student shall be responsible in providing the Internship Coordinator the following documents before he/she begins the internship: Certificate of Acceptance of Intern Internship Agreement Programme

Roles & Responsibilities of the Student (cont.) During the internship, the student shall be responsible in accomplishing and submitting the following reports after every 75 hours of internship to the Internship Coordinator:

Time Sheet Report Daily Activity Report Performance Appraisal Report duly signed and sealed by the On-site Supervisor

INTERNSHIP POLICIES
Roles & Responsibilities of the On-Site Supervisor The On-site Supervisor shall be the primary supervisor of the intern from the sponsoring organization or company. The relation between the intern and the On-site supervisor is that of an employee and manager. The On-site Supervisor shall select interns based on organizational needs and the students experiences and goals. The On-site Supervisor shall be responsible for the development of a relevant program of learning for the intern/student during the duration of the internship.

Roles & Responsibilities of the On-Site Supervisor

The On-site Supervisor shall be responsible for the content of the assignment of the intern, which should be explained fully to the intern prior to the commencement of the internship. The On-site Supervisor shall conduct performance discussions held on a systematic basis during the internship assignment. He/she must organize a meeting in order to provide constructive feedback to the intern. At the end of the internship, the On-site Supervisor shall prepare the Internship Evaluation of the interns performance.

INTERNSHIP POLICIES
DURATION OF INTERNSHIP ASSIGNMENTS The main objective of internship is on active participation and mastery of skills while accumulating the required 300 hours of practical and related work-activity. The internship period is from July 14, 2011 October 14, 2011. It shall be over 12 weeks. The typical time commitment of an intern on a weekly basis should be (35) thirty-five hours in order to finish the internship course within the term, otherwise, the intern/student must re-enrol the internship course to obtain a passing mark.

GRADING SCHEME
Seventy-five percent (75%) of the grade will be earned from the four periodic evaluation conducted by the On-site Supervisor and the remaining twenty-five percent (25%) will be from the assessment conducted by the Internship Coordinator. Performance Appraisal Report 1 (0-75 hours) Performance Appraisal Report 2 (76-150 hours) Performance Appraisal Report 3 (151 225 hours) Performance Appraisal Report 4 (226-300 hours)

TIME SHEET REPORT


IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW!
You must ask your your on-site supervisor to sign your timesheet report. Attach your time card / log sheet. Photocopied time cards will not be accepted. If your company uses an electronic time-keeping system, print your hours from the system. If that is not possible, make sure you copy the hours into your time card from the log sheet and have your on-site supervisor sign the said time card. Avoid erasures on your time card.
