TIME MANAGEMENT/SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Preliminary filming
Why?

I want to complete some preliminary filming before I film my music video in order to see how the locations look on camera and to see how my actress (Imogen) looks on camera. I could also complete a screen test. What? I will film potential locations and also film some simple scenes with Imogen to see how they look on camera. When? I want to complete this filming by the end of November in order to give me plenty of time to plan and think clearly about my project. Health and safety? Once I have decided on locations to shoot the preliminary filming I will have to check to see if I need permission from anyone (i.e. farmer- field.) This will also apply to my actual filming that I will do for my media project. I will also need to make sure that I am not placing the both of us in potentially dangerous situations i.e. filming alone in isolated places, filming in Oxford late at night. I will make sure that there are others there to secure the filming and if it gets dark, I will have to think about getting some reflective clothing for safety/ plan ahead to ensure we get all of the filming done before it gets dark. Again, this applies to my real project when I finally start.

Filming: Day 1
When?

I want to complete my first set of filming by the first week of December. I hope to get a large majority of it done so hopefully on the next day of filming, I will finish. What? The shots I want to achieve are: 1. Close-up shot of face 2. Medium shot of Imogen walking towards camera 3. Establishing shot of location Location? Fields and urban area.

Filming: Day 2
When?

Ideally I would like to complete filming by the end of December/first week of January. This would then give me plenty of time to plan my editing and therefore produce a professional-looking media product. What? The shots I will need to get will be all of the ones I didnt manage to get from the first day of filming. I will also focus on getting the flash back shots which will mean there will be a costume change. In terms of the flashback shots, I need to think about the kind of shots I want to get in order to portray an effective flashback. From watching other music videos and TV dramas, I have learnt that keeping the scenes simple can have a much greater effect. Therefore, if I just got shots of Imogen running away/ sat on her own, this would portray her isolation and loneliness which has contributed to her present situation.

Editing
When?

I want to start editing mid/end January. The latest I would start editing would be the first week of February. I want to leave plenty of time for myself so I can concentrate on producing a well made piece of work that portrays all of the concepts, themes and ideas that I have/will have been planning for a long time. How? I am going to research many music videos similar to my concept in order to analyse their editing and execution. I will most probably look at The Kooks, Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding predominantly.
