Hybrid Cars
Hybrid Cars Are At The Pinnacle of the alternative fuel & low emission initiative taken by the automotive industry. The Basic principle of a Hybrid Vehicle As The Name Suggest Is To Combine The Good Qualities Of Two Units To Eliminate Out The Negatives Of the same This is achieved by coupling petrol engines with electric motors in vehicles The petrol engine is utilised mainly for long distance or high way journeys. The electric motor is utilised for short distances or usually city driving, wherein there is more loss of fossil fuel.
While utilising the petrol engine for motion, the transformers charge the batteries used to run the electric motors. Moreover when the drivers applies the brakes the energy derived from the braking action is used to charge the batteries of the electric motor. This engine-motor unison helps hybrid cars give out extremely low emissions and have high mileage. Thus providing a good alternative to traditional petrol driven cars
Ethanol
Ethanol (C2 H6 O) The Largest Single use of Ethanol is as motor fuel or fuel additive. Ethanol as Fuel Reduces harmful tailpipe emissions of CO, particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen and other ozone forming pollutants. Ethanol can Be used as hydrous ethanol in vehicles (95% ethanol 5% water) Ethanol Is Produced On A Large scale using the waste out of sugarcane mills and also using corn. The Most Commonly Used Ethanol Fuel Is E85 (85% Ethanol 15% Petrol) The Ethanol Variant Available In India, for Indian Cars Is E10 ( Ethanol 10% Petrol 90%)
Biodiesel
Clean Burning Diesel replacement Made from increasingly diverse mix of resources such as agricultural oils, recycled cooking oil and animal fats. Produced By Transesterification of Oils And Fats to Produce Esters (Combustible Biodiesel) The Process To Produce Biodiesel Is Easily Carried Out On A domestic basis hence making it the largest produced domestic fuel.
