Attempt to lift the bushing with eyebolts threaded into the top of the bushing or try lifting from the bottom of the bushing with a fabricated steel lifting plate, or. Pack the bushing with dry ice before attempting to lift if free, or. Invert the eccentric and press the bushing out.

Install the key in the bushing and hold it in place by use of rope, wire (preferred), or tape.
Fill the bushing with dry ice and allow to cool for 6 to 8 hours. Liquid nitrogen can be used as an alternative.
Using a spreader bar and the threaded holes on the top of the bushing, lower the bushing into position. Dont hammer the bushing into position if it becomes stuck.

Inside Diameter
Keyway
Take eccentric inside diameter measurements in the load zone marked A, near the keyway at about 8 (200mm) to 10 (250mm) intervals for the full length of the eccentric. Take measurements 90 from A at the area marked B. Measure or note any other areas of apparent defect.

Keyway
Compare the measurements taken with the limits listed below as indicated by 1, 2, & 3. 1) All axial diameter readings should be within .002 (.05mm) of each other.
2) No inward blister or any other defect higher than .001 (.025mm) above the normal plate of the inner diameter surface.
3) No internal out of round exceeding that shown in the table to the bottom left:

Outside Diameter
Oil Groove Lead Area
Take outside diameter measurements at the area marked A counterclockwise from the oil groove at about 8 (200mm) to 10 (250mm) intervals. Make sure to stay away from the oil groove lead area.
Take outside diameter measurements at the area marked B from the eccentric thick side to the eccentric thin side. Measure or note any other apparent defect.

Steel Plate
Gear
The gear is a tight fit on the eccentric. The fit can be as much as .001 (.025mm) for every 1 (25mm) of diameter. Press the gear off using any suitable means. Heat can be applied at the area marked A to help relieve the interference fit (if so, remove the lower counterweight first if present).
Eccentric Blocking
TTM-1004-B
When using heating torches (rosebuds), heat the bottom area of the gear marked A and the inside area of the gear marked B. Do not heat the gear teeth directly! Set the heated gear on suitable blocking and lower the eccentric into the gear making sure that the shoulder of the eccentric makes 360 contact with the top of the gear at the area marked C.

A burnt bushing shrinks and may come out easily. A worn bushing might be tight. Remove the dust collar Attempt to lift the bushing with eyebolts threaded into the top of the bushing using a spreader bar or try lifting from the bottom of the bushing with a fabricated steel lifting plate, or. Pack the bushing with dry ice before attempting to lift if free.
Note: When hoisting, lift carefully to prevent the eyebolt threads from pulling out of the bushing.
TTM-1004-B
There is a slight clearance between the bottom shell bushing outside diameter and the bottom shell bore inside diameter. Check the surfaces for any imperfections. Make sure the bushing top marked top is up. Trial fit the key in the bottom shell. Install the key in the bushing and fill the bushing with dry ice. Allow to cool for 6 to 8 hours. Lightly oil the bottom shell bore. Using a spreader bar and the threaded holes on the top of the bushing, lower the bushing into position.

TTM-1004-B
TTM-1004-B
Take bore measurements in three vertical planes 60 apart beginning at the pinionshaft location marked A. Measurements on the vertical plane should be about 3 (75mm) apart for the full length of the bore. Also measure wherever there is discoloration or any evidence of bore defect.
TTM-1004-B
If it is necessary to clean up the bore, the final result should not cause the bore to be larger than the maximum allowable as shown in the table marked bottom shell bore and bushing service specifications.

Comments
TTM-1004-B
Note: If the oil drain holes become plugged or restricted, larger quantities of lube oil will be lost through the dust seal / dust collar area. The Dust collar can be warmed slightly to ease installation.
TTM-1004-B
Bottom shell arm guards are pushed tight to the outer frame and stop blocks are welded to the bottom shell arms to keep them in position.
TTM-1004-B
TTM-1004-B
Note: The bottom shell liners located to the left and right of each arm guard may have to be trimmed with a cutting torch to get it to fit correctly. On a new installation, these liners are much easier to install prior to flipping the bottom shell over.
