How through childrens literature can you make it easier for your school children to employ problem solving

skills?

Through stories and novels, children can indirectly try out new experiences and test new ideas, with no negative consequences in their real lives. Books give kids the opportunity to expand their critical thinking skills in such areas as

problem solving, the concepts of cause and effect, conflict resolution, and acceptance of responsibility for one's actions.

Children are influenced by the world around them and imitate them. By carefully choosing stories and books can leave positive influence on children. For example, books can also encourage children to be more cooperative, to share with others, or to solve a simple daily life problem.

e.g. Mysteries allow children to follow clues to the logical conclusions. Even for very young children, a simple story with a repetitive mystery to solve could gives a confidence boost. Children can predict the patterns and successfully solve the riddles in a short period.

Literature values can help children to be independent in certain things. They will acquire confidence, the process is not on the spot, but we could see it affected the childrens behavior when they are exposed regularly to their same bedtime favorite stories. Eg: hesitation in buying things. opening cookie jar without help.
