HIGH EXPANSION FOAM SYSTEM FOR THE ENGINE ROOM AND PUMP ROOM MODEL: KASHIWA COMPANY LIMITED a) b) High expansion Foam System makes full use of its extinguishing ability and has following effects:
Isolating Effect: the system will generate a large quantity of foam, isolate the area on fire from other areas to prevent fire from expanding and extinguish in short time. Cooling Effect: Water included in generated foam liquid can cool the heat in the area on fire and decrease the atmospheric temperature for better extinguishment. This system consists of following parts: a) Foam GENERATOR: This consists of a spray nozzle, body and generating net. When the system is running seawater and foam mix goes to the generator and is sprayed toward the net. Air is drawn in from the generator inlet and foam is produced at expansion ratio of 1:600.
b) MIXING UNIT: The foam liquid is mixed with the seawater in an eductor. The foam liquid is drawn through a Diaphragm Control valve placed in the piping of the foam liquid. This valve is used to obtain a constant flow and mixing ratio.
ENGINE AND PUMPROOM FIXED SYSTEM 30.08.06 2 of 6 CONTROL PANEL: This panel controls the remote operation of the system from Fire Control Station. Note: There is another same panel located in High Expansion Foam Room for starting the system, in case it fails to operate from Fire Control Station.
