4. DESIGN DATA
For Test separator sizing purposes, properties of gas, liquid, and produced water are taken from HYSYS simulation while their flow rates are adjusted based on Arar Daily Report. Some design data and properties are summarized below, Operating Pressure (psig) Operating Temperature ( F) Gas Flowrate (MMSCFD) Gas Density (Lb/ft ) Gas Viscosity (cP) Liquid Flowrate (BPD) Liquid Density (Lb/ft )

5. DESIGN CRITERIA
Basically the calculation main criterions are referred to API 12 J Specification for Oil and Gas Separator, GPSA Engineering Data Book. Some of the main criterions are described below 1. K-Value A Vertical separator with 10 ft length shall be designed by considering k value 0.4 ft/s-0.5 ft/s, while for more than 10 feet length utilized for. Test separator will be designed by utilizing k-Value 0.4 ft/s to approximate the maximum allowable velocity of gas, it means we concern to limit the length to be not more than 10 ft, and the length to inside diameter ratio will be specified in the range 2-5. 2. Level setting and residence times General requirement for level setting and residence times as follow HHLL to HLL HLL to LLL LLL to LLLL LLLL to Bottom of Vessel : 0.1 minute : 0.5 minutes : 0.2 minute : minimum 3 in
of k-value shall be
between both phases should be minimized where ever practicable. 3. Inlet and Outlet Nozzle Normally a 3600 lb/ft.s2 is considered as maximum is consider for maximum Where

density
v superficial velocity
For inlet nozzle criterion the density is defined as mixed density of gas and liquid. In order to define size of outlet nozzle of liquid, 3 ft/s shall be considered as the limitation velocity, the outlet liquid doesnt supply a pump or other devices requiring low pressure drop.

6. DESIGN METHOD
Test separator sizing is done according to API 12 J and GPSA Hand book. Main steps for the sizing are described below; 1. Define design data and properties for test separator sizing. 2. Calculate sufficient cross sectional area for gas phase to separate liquid. 3. Trial separator dimensioning to get sufficient gas area. 4. Calculate sufficient liquid retention time for level instrumentation spacing 5. Define ID nozzles of inlet and outlet Test separator
