Impact Designer
A fully customisable database lies at the heart of Impacts versatility and power. Data storage and retrieval is fast and efficient, simultaneously delivering detailed and meaningful feedback that can be shared effectively between the departments of a company or across the plants of a multi-location organisation.
Impact features a fully interactive drawing toolset, as well as a wide range of reusable design components, which make the creation of custom drawings much faster than with any other packaging design software. A large and comprehensive library of pre-programmed and reusable design styles is included with Impact and facilitates fast drawing and sample turnaround. The Impact standards library includes corrugated/FEFCO, folding carton/ECMA, point of sale, rigid paper composite and media wallet variations. Impacts automatic layout feature is capable of producing one or multiple nesting patterns to perfectly meet the objectives of maximum on-press efficiency and minimum material wastage. This feature will keep track of material type and flute or grain direction to ensure that any design added to a layout automatically maintains the correct orientation. Structural design is as much about experimentation, as it is about imagination and Impacts fully integrated 3D features enable users to combine both equally effectively. Enhancements to Impacts 3D functionality mean that packaging designers can now produce as close a simulation of the finished product as is possible with todays technologies. Characteristics such as board textures, embossing, de-bossing, foils, varnish areas, rule types and even Braille can be incorporated in any packaging prototype. The natural extension to seeing how a completed design looks as a virtual 3D sample is to see how it assembles. Impacts 3D Animation feature enables users to create simple movies in just minutes. Animating more complex, multi-part structures, such as point of sale displays, takes that little bit longer, but is well worth the effort because in the right hands the results are spectacular.
Advanced 3D modelling and animation tools for fast prototyping and enhanced innovation in presentation.
Impact Diemaker
Impact Diemakers feature list is vast, but the ability to create an unlimited number of customer-specific tool settings is one of the major reasons for Impacts enduring appeal amongst the worlds major die makers.
Impacts master tool settings ensure maximum productivity and guarantee quality control to enable die makers to easily and repeatedly meet customer production expectations. As a result, the process of turning a production layout into a finished die board is fully automated, very fast and can include the simultaneous positioning of stripping knives, balance knives, alignment notches, mounting holes, gripper fingers and laser text. Impact includes an extensive range of industry-standard machine settings for the worlds leading presses, such as Bobst and Sanwa. These settings are fully customisable and can be easily modified to fall in line with local production preferences. A powerful stripper feature incorporates sophisticated routines to facilitate the fast and efficient design of male, female and front edge stripper tooling. Single-click operation automatically locates and replicates offset geometry for internal and external waste areas and sends the resultant data to a pre-defined layer in the Impact project. An intelligent mix of automatic and manual control is applied to the production of counter plates. Customisable parameters determine the support of partial cuts, reverse cuts and creases, embossing, tool angles and widths, treatment of periphery and chamfer, and location of mounting pin holes. Interoperability is assured through the inclusion of an extensive set of industry-standard import and export data interchange formats, as well as an extended range of machine drivers that enable Impact users to effectively control virtually any machine type from sample maker to rule bender, water jet to laser.
An unrivalled range of automated die making features written by industry specialists who know your business.
Impact Enterprise
Centralised support for multiple Impact databases across multiple locations
The success of Impact is largely due to the fact that it is built on an industry standard databasedriven platform. For many years this fully integrated environment has successfully provided packaging manufacturers with company-wide access to a continually growing portfolio of drawings and associated information.
As packaging companies expand, the need to extend this access across multiple locations becomes increasingly desirable. Until now, issues relating to poor network performance have made such a configuration impractical. By harnessing the latest in cloud-based technology, Impact Enterprise provides the benefits and flexibility of an on-site database, whilst facilitating the use of a common database where designers can share drawings regardless of their geographical location. Impact Enterprise is integrated into the intuitive Impact Browser and enables any authorised individual to perform enterprise-wide drawing searches with ease. Re-using existing designs removes the need to rework projects unnecessarily, saving valuable time and money in the process. Once a structural designer completes work on a project it is simultaneously copied into the local database and a centralised cloud database. This secures the automatic backup of all projects and facilitates the streamlined integration of Impact with web-based products such as WEBcnx. Impact Enterprise is powered by a series of dedicated services which provide queuing, distribution, and deployment of items across an enterprise. These services are designed to provide optimum performance, scalability and fault tolerance, so if your network is unavailable for any length of time they will automatically kick-in the minute it is back up and running. The centralised management of Impact settings significantly reduces the amount of time design managers and administrators spend on the deployment of new or modified settings. With Impact Enterprise an administrator can easily maintain the consistency of Impact settings across an entire organisation from a central location, and in doing so facilitate the use of company-specific symbols, drawing specifications, design standards, design components and master tool settings. New or modified settings will be simultaneously deployed to site databases to ensure that the most up-to-date versions are always available to everyone who needs them.
