Signs of Stress

Signs of stress can manifest physically as tiredness, difficulty sleeping, headaches, back pain, and gastrointestinal issues. Emotionally, stress can cause depression, mood swings, anger, anxiety, and lowered self-esteem. Behaviorally, stressed individuals may withdraw from others, show irritability, have relationship problems, practice unhealthy coping mechanisms, and show a lack of motivation. Thought patterns associated with stress include difficulty concentrating, negative self-talk, worrying about health, and replaying past problems in one's mind. Spiritually, people under stress may question life's meaning and purpose or experience doubts in their faith.
