Tutorial - Time Table
TIC
Part 1
Open a new text document
1. Open OpenOffice > Click File > New > Text Document. This would be the screen of your computer:
Insert a table
2. Well, now we have opened a text document in Landscape format, the next step is to insert a table. To insert a table we have to click on Insert (on the menu toolbar) > table. Something like this appears on your computer:
3. Now the table menu appears. Here you can put the name of the table and select the number of columns and rows that you want. 4. In name, you can write anything you want, is only the name of the table, so we are going to call it, Time Table. So click next to 'Name' and type it. 5. Then, to select the numbers of columns and rows we have to think how many days we are going to put, and how many classes we've got. If this time table is about a school weak, we are going to put 6 columns: 5 columns for the days and 1 column for the hours. So under 'Size', next to 'Column' click the up arrow often up to 6. 6. With the rows, we're going to do the same but thinking about: a title (1 row), the name of the days (1 row), how many subjects we have per day (7 rows) and the playgrounds (2 rows). In total we have 11 rows, so we are going to do the above process. Under 'Size', next to 'Row' click the up arrow until 11. 7. If you have this table menu, click 'OK':

Write inside the table
1. Once we have the table, the next step is very easy, we are going to write all that we want into the cells. 2. We said that in the first row we want a title, so in the first cell type: Time Table. In the Part 3 we will learn how to marge cells, but now, only write it in the first cell. 3. The second row is for the name of the days, but as we can see, we've got 6 cells and 5 days, that's because on the first cell we have to type 'Hours' and in the others the days of the week. 4. Under the 'Hours' cell, we have to type the hours of the beginning and end of each class, for example, in the first cell under 'Hours' write: 8.00 8.55, the next one: 8.55 9.50, etc, according to your school. 5. Do something similar under every day, but in this case writing the subjects of each hour. For example in the first cell, under 'Monday', next to '8.00 8.55' type: Maths. And so on every day (including the playgrounds, only the first day). 6. If you had followed all the steps, the table that has to be on your screen is the next one:
Time Table Hours 8.00 8.55 8.55 9.50 9.50 10.45 10.45 11.05 11.05 12.00 12.00 12.55 12.55 13.10 13.10 14.05 14.05 15.00 Monday Maths Physics Chemistry Playground English TIC Playground Spanish P.E Spanish Philosophy Philosophy P.E Maths Physics Catalan Physics Geography English Spanish Catalan Philosophy Tuesday Maths Chemistry TIC Wednesday Cataln Chemistry TIC Thursday Chemistry TIC Maths Friday Geography English Physics

Modify the table
Marge cells
Well, to modify the table, we're going to start merging cells. The title for example. First of all, put the mouse at the left of the first cell where you wrote 'Time Table', left-click and drag the mouse to the last cell. When the 6 cells change the colour from white to blue, go to 'Table' (on the menu toolbar) > Merge cells. When you've done this, repeat the same process in the two playgrounds (remember that you have written just one day 'playground'). Also we can merge the two last cells, from Monday. All the process is through this window:
To center all the text of the table, first we have to select all the table. The fastest way is to put the mouse in the upper left of the table and when you see a different arrow than the normal one, left-click. If this, doesn't work, do the same as the previous step, leftclick and drag, form the first cell to the last one. When all the table is in blue colour, click
Change the letter
Change the letter is very easy, you have to highlight the word/s that you want to change, and select the type of letter, so let's go. The title has to be more visual than the rest of the table so select 'Time Table' > right-click > Character... In the Character menu, you can choose the type of letter, the weight, the colour, etc. We are going to change the letter and the size. For the type of letter, under Font, search Broadway. Then in the size select 36. Click OK and you can see that your title 'Time Table' is now in a big and visual letters. Now that we know how to change the letter, we're going to put all the table (except the title) in Arial, the days of the weak in 'bold type' and the hours in 'italics'. The table would have to be like this:
Time Table
Hours 8.00 8.55 8.55 9.50 9.50 10.45 10.45 11.05 11.05 12.00 12.00 12.55 12.55 13.10 13.10 14.05 14.05 15.00 Spanish P.E Spanish Philosophy English TIC Physics Catalan Monday Maths Physics Chemistry Tuesday Maths Chemistry TIC Wednesday Cataln Chemistry TIC Playground Physics Geography Playground Philosophy P.E Maths English Spanish Catalan Philosophy Thursday Chemistry TIC Maths Friday Geography English Physics
Sometimes it's easier to understand something if it's differentiated by colors, so a good way to don't confuse the subjects of each day in a time table is colouring cells. We are going to paint the cells (only the ones of the days and the subjects), but alternating: one cell with colour, one white cell, one cell with the same color, etc. To make the coloring, click on the first cell that we want to paint ('Monday') > right-click > 'Table...' > (now in the Table Format) 'Background' > select the color that you want (in our case 'Chart 6') > OK. You must have passed through these two windows:
When you have colored all the cells of the days and subjects, you can paint the 'Playground' and the hours where you have nothing, of the same color.
IF YOU HAVE READ ALL THE TUTORIAL AND HAVE COMPLETED ALL STEPS,
