Commonly known as the Claw Game I have always been fascinated with these machines! These machines became popular in America in the 1980s. These days the most interesting and complex ones are based in Japan (they also have the best prizes in my opinion) My experiences with Claw machines has been limited to Auckland city. For a short while I thought that I became quite good at winning prizes but it turns out that I just had a lucky streak. I did win some pretty cool stuff, a mario, yoshi and some very cute hello kittys. Upon further research I found that the machines are designed so the owner can tweak prize limits by adjusting the claw pressure. In Auckland they can be found at event cinemas time out zones and bowling alleys. The prizes usually consist of the latest childrens movies such as the muppets, happy feet etc. There always seems to be a random machine filled with deformed soft toys. Once I even saw a plastic wrestling figure mixed in amongst the pink and blue teddies. Through my experience I discovered that the lighter the toy the better, but everyone has their own little tips. I was once told by a nice lady to go for the labels but really it is a game of chance. In america and canada there are regulations for these machines, as they are deemed to have addictive qualities associated with gambling. Which is why I affectionately refer to these machines as soft toy gambling. If you want the thrill of winning a prize without emptying out your wallet then of course there is always your trusty smartphone app. Not quite the same adrenaline rush as the real thing but still entertaining and there is a much higher success rate, even if the prize is a virtual teddy bear. But is it really worth it to pump coins into a machine to get that cute teddy when you could just buy one? There definitely is an addictive quality to the claw, so user beware! Oh yeah and all the best ones are in Japan all these photos are awesomely cool Japanese Claw machines. By Jenna Adam

Auckland!! I love to draw and do arts & crafts. I love cartoons, anything cute really and I especially love animals! My fashion sense well I like things that are a bit different and cute. I love the vintage and hipster style of clothes, it depends how im feeling really! :D What work do you produce, materials do you use and what do you sell? I like creating digital art on the computer. I use paint, photoshop and also do sketches. I also like making stuff with felt or any other scrappy bit of materials I have. I also occasionally use paint and canvas. Over the years I have created pieces for gifts for my friends who are having a baby or engagement presents. I think it is nice to give personal handmade presents. I hope to being selling my digtal art soon, maybe doing some commissioned pieces, watch this space and all that. I would love to have a stall at kraftbomb craft market one day!

How long have you been drawing and designing? Since I could pick up a crayon, lol. I have always loved drawing, ever since I can remember! How did you get started in what you do? It is in my blood. It is what I have always done, draw draw DRAW! I did art and design at school and as soon as I discovered the paint program on our computer i was off! :D What is the cutest thing in your life? Hmm...My cat Goob! Hehe and my sweet hubby tee hee :D *blush* What are your plans for the future? To start making some moola from my art! To infinity and beyond! Aww and making plushies would be cool! Where can we find your work? lauboz.deviantart.com/gallery/ on deviant art. I also have some work on the lion king fan art site but that is old dusty stuff, dont wanna make u kind folks sneeze now do we ^_^

Firstly can you tell the readers a little bit about yourself? Heyo Im Dani, also known as Daniwaaa if youre feeling cutesy ^^ Ive lived in bush of Titirangi, Auckland for all of my very almost 21 years. I currently love wearing anything I can raid from my grandparents closet - they have some seriously cool vintage from back in the day- combined with crazy colours, the brighter the better! What work do you produce? I design, make and sell the awesome laser cut jewellery of Planet RAWR in a rainbow of acrylics, gorgeous bamboo and some stainless steel. What inspires your work? Planet RAWR is inspired by all things awesome, anything cute and cool and a lil bit geeky. Fun things including retro games and pop culture is deemed Rawrsome and can be turned into wearable art! A ton of inspiration comes from awesome friends of Planet RAWR themselves, I love it when people go make ......! or can you make ....? and I can reply definitely, that would look so cool! How long have you been creating/drawing/designing/selling? I always loved collecting beads and when I was 12 I taught myself how to make jewellery cool enough to sell just so I could fund my beading habit. 9 years later (wow its been awhile!), my styles have changed a ton but I still love selling my creations and making people smile.

How did you get started in what you do? I loved that people could also love and wear my creations so I sold my jewellery all through High School to earn some pocket money. Planet RAWR evolved at uni when my style changed quite a bit- from using found charms, beads and fimo clay back in the day, I then found Ponoko who could laser cut me anything I could imagine! So I taught myself to design using Adobe Illustrator over many a late night after school and ordered my first batch of laser cut pendants in black and white acrylic....now Im still continuously learning better techniques and am excited to see what comes next. What is the cutest thing in your life? Probably my 5 year old bro, we have conversations in Minion, pretend to be Rawr Monsters, and play ninjas XD Hes also the only one in my family who appreciates my crazy leggings lol! What are your plans for the future? A lot of cute new designs definitely! Id like to work with other artists to do some cool collaborations, find some retailers to stock Planet RAWR jewels, and work on a pricier sterling silver line of rawrsome and also try out expanding to products other than jewellery but no1. priority right now is the launch of our online shop in the next month or so! Where can we find your Planet Rawr creations? Right now you can order from me at facebook.com/PlanetRAWR, and our website www.planetRAWR.co.nz will be up super soon too :)

Cake Pop Kitchen is a locally owned business I came across on Facebook. After browsing through all the amazing albums of Cake Pop creations I had to find out more about this fascinating baking business. Here is a quick, cute interview with the owner of the Cake Pop Kitchen Sophie Keeling...

I really like Purikura. The images are really cute and they are vector art which is even better, so they have a smooth texture to them and resize without pixelating. I wish it had a few more boarders and images though, but it does have a really good range of fonts for the text. The style of the designs are very current. This app is easy to work with, although you can only edit a stamp when it first is placed, if you add another one there is no going back unless you undo all you work. I hope that Nine Software keep developing this app, they are definitely on the right track! Keep it up! Price: $1.29 NZD Where to by: itunes app store Made by: Nine software inc Missill is an arcade styled platform run and jump game. With cute throwback, pixelated graphics and super cute music this game is definitely fun to play. This game was created to accompany the album Missill: Kawaii, by french DJ, DJMissill and all the music in the game was created by her. I highly recommend listening to her music it is very cool. Kawaii Pet Megu is a virtual pet app is very entertaining and addicitive. The opening movie is very random but funny at times much like the game itself. I enjoy the simplistic graphic design and the simple game play, with all your standard virtual pet game details such as food, cleaning, bathing, games etc. I really like the randomness of the comments from the Megu (mine is called Megi) such gems as you are not disliked, you are perhaps trusted, he is wearing perfect smile, he get highly irrritated I think the slight broken english adds to its charm.
