Brief description of the organization NTPC, India's largest power company, was set up in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. It is emerging as an Integrated Power Major, with a significant presence in the entire value chain of power generation business. NTPC ranked 341st in the 2010, Forbes Global 2000 ranking of the Worlds biggest companies. With a current generating capacity of 38,014 MW, NTPC has embarked on plans to become a 75,000 MW company by 2017.

PS-1 programme: PS-1 programme consists of the following work activities:


1. Orientation Programme Introductory classes by NTPC Faculty. Plant orientation, visit to various departments. Working in particular department, studying various activities of that department, identifying scope of improvements in the activities of that department (refer the template sent). Taking up a project on improvement on any of the activities. Preparation of orientation and project report. 2. Organizations Profile and Process/Activity Mapping (PS-1 Diary II) Collecting information regarding organizations profile, existing processes, technology and improvement processes initiated by the organization and documenting all these information in PS-1 Diary (II): Organization Profile & Process/Activity Mapping, Preparing the report namely Organization Process study report.
