On the 8th day of February, year 2012, the first day of our Educational Tour was held. As the third group, we were assigned to get the Occupational Safety and Health standards, Grounding system and Preventive Maintenance data sheet of Bayan Telecommunications. Upon reaching their office at Roosevelt Corporate Center, Quezon City, we had to wait because we are the second batch for their company seminar. After an hour, our tour guide announced that it is our turn. Listed below are some visitation policies, though not stated, are observed during our visit. A. B. C. D. E. No camera/picture taking allowed. Cellular phones, pager radios and other electronic devices are not allowed. Loitering is not permitted Do not litter. Put your trash in the designated areas. Canteen is the only place for eating.
We entered their Conference hall and the seminar was conducted by the technical staff . We then learned the primary pieces of information about Bayan Telecommunications.
Bayan Telecommunications is a leading provider of data and communications services such as dedicated domestic and international leased lines, frame relay services, Internet access, and other managed data services.
They provide services at Bayan Telecommunications Bicol for Bicol region; Bayan Telecommunications-Eastern Visayas for Samar & Leyte provinces; and Bayan Telecommunications-South Mindanao for Davao del Sur and South Cotabato particularly Davao City and General Santos City, and Bayan Telecommunications-Agusan for North Mindanao areas particularly Butuan City and Agusan Towns; respectively. These existing service areas all over the archipelago cover over 25 million people - almost a third of the Filipino population. Bayan Telecommunications Holdings Corporation was incorporated in October 15, 1993. Bayan Telecommunications, the operating arm of BTHC and formerly known as International Communications Corporation, was incorporated in April 18, 1961. After a brief discussion about Bayantel, the speaker gave us an opportunity to see their control room through the window by raising the automated blinds in the conference rooms side. The control room is composed of 7 monitors, 2 televisions and numerous computer servers. The employees follow three shifting schedules on a 24-hour operation without holidays. Bayan Telecommunications' existing nationwide network is composed of satellite, terrestrial and land/submarine based cable facilities. The network includes capacities in the National Digital Transmission Network (NDTN), a joint project of six Philippine telecommunications carriers.
