Ground Zero

History ( World Trade Center)

The World Trade Center was a complex with seven buildings in Lower Manhattan, New York City. The complex was designed in the early 1960s by Minoru Yamasaki. The North Tower was completed in December 1972 and the South Tower was finished in July 1973. The cost for the construction was $2,300,000,000 in 2012 dollars. The complex was located in the heart of New York City's financial
district.

Attacks
On February 26, 1993, a truck filled with 680 kg of explosives, planted by Ramzi Yousef, detonated in the underground garage of the North Tower. Six people were killed and 50,000 other workers and visitors were left gasping for air within the 110 story towers. Many people inside the North Tower were forced to walk down darkened stairwells that contained no emergency lighting, some taking two hours or more to reach safety. Then it was the biggest attack on American ground. But in 2001 came the change. At 8:46 AM, 9/11 a captured plane flew high into the north tower. When the plane was in the tower it exploded because it had Dead much kerosene in it. World Trade Center 2604 (en 24 Missing) Twenty minutes later another captured plane New York City American 11 87 flew into a tower, this time United 175 59 it was the south tower. Many man jumped out of the window to prevent Pentagon 125 Arlington to be burned alive. At 1 minute before 10 AM the American 77 59 south tower collapsed. 30 minutes later the north tower does also collapse after 102 minutes Shanksville United 93 40 burning. While the news was about the twin Total 2974 (en 24 Missing) towers, went two other planes to the pentagon and another was crashed at a field because it was recaptured. Result was 2974 dead and 24 missing persons. The American government wants to accuse Osama Bin Laden for this attacks. After many years searching Bin Laden the government found him. At 2 may 2011 Bin Laden was killed by American Elite troops.

Ground Zero
The National September 11 Memorial & Museum is a monument for the victims of the 9/11 attacks from al Qaida. The monument was designed by Michael Arad, it has been build at the place where the Twin Towers were. It is beside the One World Trade Center, also known as Freedom Tower. The Monument was opened at the 11th September of 2011. The Design
Two pools with the largest manmade waterfalls in the US are in the footprints of the Twin Towers. Each Pool is 1 acre, and together they are intended to symbolize the loss of life. The Sounds of the waterfalling is supposed to drown out the sounds of the city. Almost 400 Sweet gum and swamp white

oak trees fill the remaining 6 acres on the memorial plaza, theyre intended to reflect the nature of the site.

The Names
The names of 2.983 victims are inscribed on 76 bronze plates, theyre attached to the wall from the edges of the Memorial pools. The names are arranged based on relationship details which include proximity at the time of the attacks and companies. Special Software was developed to arrange this. As result of this software the next came out. All victims who were in the North Tower and the passengers or crew of American Airlines Flight 11 wich had hit the North Tower are located around the perimeter of the North Pool. The names of the victims who were in the South Tower and passengers or crew of United Airlinges Flight 175 wich had hit the South tower, also the first responders who died during rescue operations, and passengers of the other planes and at the pentagon victims are located around the South Pool. It was decided that the names of companies would not be included. However, company employees and visitors are listed together. Passengers of the four flights are listed together under their flight numbers, and first responders are listed together with their units.

The Survivor Tree

The tree is a pear tree. It was recovered from the rubble at the World Trade Center, long after recovery workers expected to find anything alive at the site. At the time of its recovery it was 8-feet tall, badly burned, and it had only one living branch. The tree had lived at the World Trade Center for several decades. It was planted in the 1970s. Although this tree is prominently as part of the memorial, there are also six other survivor trees which have been permanently planted near New York City Hall and near the Brooklyn Bridge. 3 of this trees are callery pears and the other 3 are leaf lindens.

Opinion
My opinion is that the Memorial of the Ground Zero is a nice place to memory the Attacks, also the victims and people who fight for lives of other people. I have much respect for the first responders because what they found there was a lot of trouble. I think the whole world needed to have respect of the first responders. Without them many people died, they risked their live for other ones.
