Kawana Surf Life Saving Club

Blue Star Review

OFFICE HOURS Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10am to 4pm

President
As we near the end of the season and reflect, it is wonderful to acknowledge our members. The Committee has had to implement some stringent measures this year to keep the Club moving forward and could not have achieved this result without you, the members! An important part of the Clubs history is recognizing members All life members are welcome to join this panel, please contact Bob Clements by 30 April. The morale and commitment is at an all time high and I am proud of everyones efforts. With only a couple of weeks remaining of the patrolling season I am sure your vigilance will continue. Although patrols, nippers and competition are drawing to a close your Club is still open for business. Offering well priced meals, entertainment, promotions , members draw, etc. The members draw this Friday night is a guaranteed $1 000 draw. Bring the family down for a meal and a chance to $1 000. Awesome effort to all members involved in 18 Rescues over the weekend! Patrol 7N were kept busy with 15 rescues. They performed board and tube rescues both in and outside the flagged area.

Club Annual Dinner

The date has been set: 16 June, 2012 All members are welcome and would we encourage Nipper parents to attend. The cost and format of the evening will be advertised in the next newsletter.

They were supported by Surfcom who coordinated support services with the wave runner and helicopter assisting. Well done!

Dear fellow Surf Lifesavers, You would all be aware of the tragic incident that occurred at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships at Kurrawa.

Club Photos
Preparations for the Clubs Annual Report is underwayso if you have any photos please drop them into the office.
As Napoleon Bonaparte once said:

In this time of severe stress , I ask everyone to read the attached detailed document on dealing with a potentially significant event. Watch your friends and fellow clubbies for signs of post traumatic stress and don't hesitate to contact your State Centre for assistance if you need help. We need to ensure our surf lifesaving family assists each other at this difficult time. Our Club is fortunate to have Pastor Dony as a Radio Officer and he is the Pastor at Kawana Life Church. He is happy for you to call him. Phone: 5437 6332 Mobile: 0421 711 927

Val Burns
Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club sadly mourns the passing of our oldest loyal & benevolent supporter Val Burns. The reserve sign was placed and a spare
seat was left where Val would normally sit. Lenny Smith, Marg Kallaghan, Ray Thornton and Bob Martin and in the reserve spot would be Val Burns.

NIPPER BREAK UP Thanks to Ewen Maddock Dam for welcoming our nippers to their venue. They certainly had fun! This was a great team building day for the nippers and if you are planning a family, corporate or sporting club event give them a call.
