Repentance

A Bible study on Repentance When we talk about repentance what does that mean to you? Simply put"Repentance" is a change of mind resulting in a change of action. 3 I tell you, no, but unless you 1repent, you will all likewise perish. (Lk. 13:3, 5) Jesus told a parable of two sons illustrating repentance.

The Parable of Two Sons


28 But what do you think? A man had two 1sons, and he came to the first and said, 2Son, go work today in the avineyard. 29 And he answered, I will not; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, I will, sir; but he did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They * said, The first. Jesus * said to them, Truly I say to you that athe tax collectors and prostitutes 1will get into the kingdom of God before you. (Matt. 21:28-31) Realize that repentance is ACTIVE not passive - We are led to repentance by godly sorrow. (cf. Ps.119:67, 71) 9 I now rejoice, not that you were made sorrowful, but that you were made sorrowful to the point of repentance; for you were made sorrowful according to the will of God, so that you might not suffer loss in anything 1through us. 10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a arepentance 1without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. - (2 Cor. 7:9- 10). Someone who repents bears fruits of repentance 8 Therefore bear fruits in keeping with repentance, and ado not begin to say 1to yourselves, bWe have Abraham for our father, for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham. (Lk. 3:8). Today, a person who obediently turns to the Lord in repentance bears the fruit of the Spirit. - (Gal. 5:16-26; Eph. 5:8-10). Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? (Rom. 2:4) Remember that its God's goodness that leads us to repentance (cf. 1 Jn. 4:19).God's goodness makes us sorry for our sins; thus, we are led to repentance (cf. 2 Cor. 7:9-10).* Unbelievers must repent when they sin. (Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30; 2 Pet. 3:9) Believers must repent to be saved. (Acts 8:22; Rev. 2:5, 16; 3:3, 19) Discussion Time : (Read Luke 15:11-32) Questions: you? 1. When did Repentance take place? 2.
