Woodruff Church of God e-Edition Newsletter May 15, 2012

Pastors Notes: What a great time we had Sunday. The building was packed with people coming to honor or remember their Mother. I do understand for some it is a difficult time. For others, its a joyous time. Yet through whatever emotions you were having, we gathered together to worship the Lord. The choir did an outstanding job on leading us in worship and we were challenged by the Word in understanding the need to be a Spirit filled MOM (and DAD!). It is my hearts desire to see all of Gods children filled with the power of His Spirit. Not partially, but full to overflowing! Continue to desire Him and He will be there for you!!!!! This coming Sunday morning, we will be honoring our graduates. It is always a wonderful time to reflect upon this momentous occasion. Some are graduating high school and some, college. Whatever the milestone, we want you to know that your church is PROUD of you! Please be present Sunday morning as we pay tribute to these graduates.

Sunday night, ACTS Student Ministries will be in charge of the service. We are so blessed to have Jason & Stephanie Fowler leading this ministry along with their great staff of workers. We are also blessed to have a great group of young people!!!! We owe it to both our leaders and youth to be in our places, worshipping God and supporting their ministry. I cant wait!!!!!!!

The Woodruff Ministerial Association and area churches are working together on a project to aid District 4 students and parents with school supplies for next school year. This project is called GREAT START WOODRUFF. District 4 is allowing us to hold this event on their campus but in doing so, we must provide for all students. This is a mammoth undertaking, yet God has already begun working miracles. 2000 back packs have been donated to this cause!!!!! Several churches are pulling together to work on a few of the items. Our items are: 1) packs of #2

pencils, 2) pencil sharpeners with covers, 3) pencil pouches with 3 holes, 4) pens (blue/black). Ive asked our ministries to be involved but I want you to be involved as well. There will be a box in the lobby for you to place your items in. Together, we can make this event a huge success. On that day, there will be free haircuts given, a prayer tent to provide prayer for any person or family that wants prayer. Each book bag will also have a copy of the Word of God in it. This is a huge opportunity for our churches in Woodruff to impact our community. Please help us in this endeavor!!! Thank You June 3rd is our next baby dedication. As usual, you need to call the church office (476-2977) and give us the name of your child so we can prepare the things we use for that. We are going to begin something new in our baby dedications. We are asking the parents to provide us 3 photos. As we call you forward for your babys dedication, we want to show the 3 photos of your child. We will need this by Wednesday, May 30th. You can bring them by the office to be scanned or you can email us the pictures at [email protected]. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of dedicating your children to the Lord.

Those who took the one day trip with us last week had a great time of fellowship. We went to Strawberry Hill for Breakfast, shopped at the farmers market, went through the Cowpens Battleground, shopped at Hamricks and the Outlet Mall, had a late lunch at Cracker Barrell, and then, before coming back to the church we stopped by one of the Assisted Living homes where a couple of our seniors live. How great that was for us as well as these fine ladies.

WEIGH TO GO is a Christian Weight Loss Support group. WEIGH TO GO is a place where we as Christians come together to encourage each other and to explore what GOD and His word says about weight loss and weight related issues. Our bodies are sanctuaries and temples of GOD and we should treat them accordingly. WEIGH TO GO is open to all diets, eating disorders, and food addictions. So come and join us in this life changing journey. WEIGH TO GO meets every Tuesday at 6pm for optional weigh in and meeting to follow at 6:30pm. We meet in the classrooms underneath the main sanctuary. The entrance to the classrooms is located in the alley between the main church and youth building. So come and join us in our journey to improve our health and GOD'S Holy temples. HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!
