Hello everybody, the topic of my talk is the 3 Operating Systems most people have at home, I will talk about differences among them and I will try to give you some suggestions. First of all, I will talk a bit about any of them, and then, I will go on to give you may personal opinion about witch one we should use at home.

We will talk about. MS Windows Mac OS Ubuntu Linux

Let' begin by Ms Windows.

MS WINDOWS.

Microsoft introduced an operating system called Windows in 1985 and since then, it with its different releases, has dominated the personal computer market. The main differences with prior Os was the graphical user interfaces. At that time linux already had the x-windows. Since then, we have known several releases like windows 95, 98, NT, XP until the current one Windows 7 ( at the end of this year will be released Windows 8 to be used as well in tablets)

(talk a bit about windows 8- tablets and mobiles

and normal pc to work using a mouse....)

Let's move on to Mac OS, that is, let's turn now to Mac OS

Mac OS

Mac OS is a series of graphical user interface Operating Systems developed by Apple for their computer systems called Macintosh (and now Iphones and other gadgets...)

Mac OS's are UNIX based, which is a solid Operating System. That is why Mac OS is consider more reliable than MS windows. The different releases are called with numbers Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9, and now Mac OS X (although this time in Roman numbers).

The main advantage Apple has over Microsoft is that apple develop their operating systems for ther products (macintosh, iphones, etc) while Microsoft develop software for everybody, Acer, Hewlett Packard, samsung etc so, Apple test the software in just one machine and it is easier to maintain.

The main disadvantage is tha Apple products are really expensive.

Ubuntu Linux

Ubuntu is an operating system based on Linux. Ubuntu is sponsored by a company called Canonical Ltd. And it is entirely free of charge. Canonical generate revenues by selling technical support related to ubuntu to companies which use it. Everybody can see the code source and improve it. It is committed to the principles of free software development. Every program you can find in windows or Macintosh, exists for linux or at least exists some other application which provides the same or similar characteristics.

winampbash Nero

Jdownloader etc...

Who uses linux? The U.S department of Defense The U.S Nuclear submarine fleet Organisms of the city of Munich and Vienna The government of Extremadura in Spain United States Federal Aviation Administration has migrated to linux saving 15 million dollars French Parliament opted in November 2006 to dump Windows in favor of Ubuntu Linux Us Federal Courts Government of Mexico City and an endless list of companies...

The usage share of operating systems is

75% Windows 9% Macintosh 1.6% Linux the rest is: Android, IOS, backberry, that is, mobile and tablets operating systems.

To conclude and to put more simply what I recommend, I just want to say that I use linux at home and I am not worry about having to get a new version for everything on the internet downloading it most of the times in a not very legal way. Bla bla bla.

So I encourage you to use it and guarantee you won't want to come back to windows any more.
