INTRODUCTION The purpose of this document is to specify piping and station accessories materials identification by color coding. Identification for piping and station accessories materials is required since hazards materials flow through this system. Then piping system should be appropriately labeled to make people aware of the hazardous material they carry. ANSI A13.1 1981 scheme for identification of piping systems addresses this concern by offering a common labelling method to be used in all facilities. In order to identify piping and station accessories materials, PGN has categorized materials flow inside its facility as follows, then the color coding shall be determined accordingly: 1. High-Hazard Materials
Materials included in this category is as follows: Materials encompasses several hazard areas including
extreme pressures and temperatures. 2. Low-Hazardous Materials Materials that are not inherently hazardous and have a small chance of harming employees through mild temperatures and low pressures.

3. Fire Suppression Materials Fire protection materials such as foam, carbon dioxide(CO2), Halon and water.
2.
SCOPE This document elaborate the color coding requrement for piping system with all its accessories and equipments installed in station.
3.
CODE AND STANDARDS The following are international codes and standards being used in this color coding identification for piping and station accessories materials requirement: ANSI A13.1-1981 ANSI Z53.1-1979 ANSI Z535.1-1991 Scheme for the Identification of Piping System Safety Color Code for Marking Physical Hazards Safety Color Code
4.
GENERAL RULES OF COLOR IDENTIFICATION Pipe and its accessories marking labels must effectively communicate the contents of the pipes and give additional detail if special hazards (such as extreme temperatures and pressures) exist. The legend should be shorten in length and easy to understand. An arrow should be used in conjunction with the legend to show which direction the materials flows. The following are the color-coded labels used in associated with their category as mentioned earlier:
1. All high-hazard materials shall use black characters on a yellow background.

2. The low-hazard material class is divided into two different color shcemes as follows:
a. Liquid and liquid mixtures shall use white characters on a green background;
b.
The letters on pipe labels should be a minimum of high, and should increase in size as the pipe diameter increases.
4.1 Color Identification All pipe in the piping system shall be identified according to their function or services and their hazards source within. The identification shall be applied after the application of insulation and/or final painting by color-coded banding and stenciling. Marking shall inform the pipe material fluid and its direction also fulfilled with the following requirement:
a. All markers shall be stenciled in positions visible to personnel. Marking shall conform
point of pipe entry and exit where a line goes through a wall, on each riser and tee joint, and at 25 feet interval on long continuous runs of pipe. Arrows (flow directions marker) shall point away from content marking, and in direction of flow. If flow can be in both directions, apply double-headed arrows. d. Background Banding (paint) Background banding for piping system and its accessories shall meet the following tables.
