The light flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated dangerous voltage within the products enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. 1. Please read the instructions. 2. You must keep these instructions. 3. You must also read the warnings. 4. Always follow all the instructions. 5. Do not use this appliance near water. 6. When cleaning, use a dry cloth only. 7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Always follow the manufacturers instructions on how install the appliance. 8. Do not place the appliance near a heat source such as a heater, a cooker, a heating element or any other appliances (including amplifiers) that release heat. 9. Always carefully follow the safety instructions for the mains supply cord. The cord is made of two strips; one is wider than the other one. 14. Fate effettuare eventuali interventi di assistenza solo da personale autorizzato e qualificato. It is ideally partnered with the matching Sib line satellite loudspeaker for a system that combines high performance sound with elegance and discretion. Connections
"High level" inputs When using a standard twochannels stereo amplifier, the Cub2 must be connected through the "high level inputs". The two stereophonic loudspeakers will then have to be connected directly to the high level outputs of the subwoofer (fig. A). It is imperative to respect the connectors polarity of both the loudspeaker and amplifier. The positive terminal "+" (red) must be connected to the corresponding amplifiers terminal (red) and the negative terminal "-" (black) to the negative terminal of the amplifier. Low level inputs on RCA When using a two-channels amplifier with pre-out line outputs, the Cub2 must be connected through RCA stereo inputs "line inputs Right/Left" (fig. B). LFE input When using an audio/video multi-channel amplifier, the single LFE input of the Cub2 should be connected to the mono "Subwoofer" output of the audio/video amplifier (fig. C). In that case, all controls of the Cub2 will be off, except the volume control. Considering the fact that the audio/video amplifier already features all the necessary functions, this configuration is recommended for home theatre use only.

Positioning
Contrary to conventional hi-fidelity loudspeakers which have to be placed at a reasonable distance from the walls and the listening area corners, we advise you to place your Cub2 subwoofer in a corner of the listening area (fig. D, E). If the subwoofer is placed against only one wall or too far from the walls, the very large wavelength of the bass delivered by the subwoofer will excite the resonance of the listening room in an unpredictable way. Frequency response linearity will then be damaged and therefore the sound rendition will be affected (lack of depth, boomy sound, poor bass, difficult or impossible coupling with the other used loudspeakers). If you put the Cub2 in a corner, the resonant frequencies of the room will be more linear and predictable. In such a configuration, you will not only benefit from an optimum perception of the bass frequency range but the bass level will also be increased by 6dB (fig. F). If a particular disposition of the room does not allow to place the subwoofer in a corner, we recommend you to try different configurations until you find the best possible disposition. Generally, the subwoofer should be placed along the front wall of the listening room. Because the bass frequency waves are omni-directional, the sound dispersion will not be affected if a piece of furniture or an object is placed between the subwoofer and the listening area.

Choice of cables
When the Cub2 is connected to the amplifier through the "high level" inputs, it is recommended to use standard loudspeakers cables with 1.5mm minimum section. When the Cub2 is connected to the amplifier through stereo "line level" or LFE inputs, use a RCA/RCA shielded cable of the required length. In every case we advise you to ask your retailer. He will help you find the solution meeting your needs.

Settings
Autopower The Cub2 features an automatic audio signal detector. When the "power" control is set on auto-mode, the subwoofer will automatically switch on as soon as an audio signal is detected. When set to "power on", the signal detector is disable and the subwoofer is continuously on. Conversely, if no signal is detected during a period of about 3 minutes, the detector automatically set the subwoofer to standby mode. If you expect not to use the subwoofer for a long period, it is recommended to set the power selector to "off". In case of stormy weather, unplug the power cable.

Quick set-up
1 - Connect the subwoofer to the power grid (electrical outlet). 2 - Set the power selector to "on". 3 - Connect the subwoofer to the amplifier according to one of the three methods mentioned above. 4 - Set the "crossover" potentiometer to intermediate position (around 100Hz). 5 - Set the "volume" potentiometer to intermediate position. Please note that the crossover and phase functions are not available when the Cub2 is connected through the "Line Inputs LFE".

Fine tune
1 - Adjust the bass level according to the other used loudspeakers. In order to find the appropriate settings, we advise you to use as many different music styles as possible. Bass must be present but not too heavy. 2 - Choose the phase selector mode (0 or 180). The proper setting must make you feel that the bass level is higher and well balanced. 3 - Adjust the crossing frequency around 100Hz. The more you lower this frequency, the more the sound appears to be deep and sonorous. The higher the frequency is, the more you will feel a dynamic bass impact. The right settings are obtained when all these previously stated conditions are fulfilled. 4 - Re-adjust, if necessary, the volume control of the Cub2. 5 - The settings must be adjusted each time that the subwoofer is moved from its initial place.

Running-in period
The driver used in the Cub2 is made up of complex mechanical elements and requires an adaptation period before it delivers the best of its performances. They must get adapted to the temperature and humidity conditions of their environment. This breaking-in period depends upon the encountered conditions and can last several weeks. In order to shorten this period, we advise you to let your subwoofer operate for about twenty hours at medium level, playing standard music programs, but with a large amount of bass. Once the components of the speaker are completely stabilized, it is possible to enjoy the true performances of your self powered subwoofer.

Magnetic disturbance
The Cub2 generates a magnetic field that may interfere with other sensitive household appliances. It is strongly advised not to place the Cub2 closer than 50cm (20") to your TV screen (fig. H). Frame geometry as well as colours can be severely distorted by a magnetic field if the loudspeaker is placed to close to the cathode ray tube. Generally, every sensitive elements (audio tapes, video tapes, magnetic data storages, projector and display devices etc.) should not be placed too close to nonshielded loudspeakers.

Connexions
Sur les entres "haut niveau" Lorsquun amplificateur stro 2 canaux standard est utilis, Cub2 devra tre connect sur les entres "haut niveau" (high level inputs). Les deux enceintes pourront tre connectes directement sur les sorties haut niveau du subwoofer (fig. A). Respectez la mise en phase des cbles haut-parleurs en reliant les bornes rouges marques "+" de lampli la borne rouge ou "+" de lenceinte correspondante. Procdez de mme pour les bornes noires marques "-". Sur les entres RCA bas niveau Lorsquun amplificateur 2 canaux quip de sorties ligne "pre out" est utilis, Cub2 devra tre connect sur les entres stro RCA "Line inputs Right/Left" (fig. B). Sur lentre LFE Lorsquun amplificateur audio/vido multicanaux est utilis, lentre unique LFE de Cub2 sera connecte sur la sortie "Subwoofer" de lamplificateur audio/vido (fig. C). Dans ce cas prcis, toutes les fonctionnalits de rglage de Cub2 seront dsactives, hormis le contrle du volume. Cette liaison est prfrable en home cinma, o toutes ces fonctions sont dj contenues dans lamplificateur audio/vido et risqueraient de faire double emploi.

Emplacement
Contrairement une enceinte acoustique qui doit tre suffisamment loigne des murs et des angles de la pice dcoute, nous vous conseillons de placer le caisson de grave Cub2 dans un angle (fig. D, E). Si Cub2 est plaqu contre un seul mur ou trs cart des cloisons, la longueur donde trs importante des frquences graves reproduites vont exciter de faon alatoire les rsonances du local dcoute. La rponse en frquence ne sera pas linaire et la qualit du grave en sera trs affecte (manque de profondeur, effet de "son de tonneau", grave mou et/ou mal tenu, recoupement difficile ou impossible avec les autres enceintes utilises). En plaquant Cub2 dans un angle, les rsonances de la pice seront excites de faon plus linaire et prvisible. Non seulement, la perception du grave sera optimale, mais en plus cette disposition permettra daccrotre le niveau de grave de + 6 dB (fig. F). Si pour des questions de contraintes damnagement, vous ne pouvez pas placer le caisson dans un angle, essayez diffrents emplacements dans la pice jusqu trouver le meilleur compromis possible. Dune manire gnrale, il faudra veiller placer le caisson de grave sur lavant de la pice dcoute. Les bandes de frquences concernes tant omnidirectionnelles, le grave nest en principe pas affect par un objet ou un meuble plac entre le caisson et le point dcoute.

Choix des cbles

Lorsque Cub2 est connect lamplificateur sur des entres "haut niveau", utilisez des cbles haut-parleurs dune section gale ou suprieure 1,5 mm2. Lorsque Cub2 est connect lamplificateur sur les entres ligne stro ou LFE, utilisez un cordon RCA/RCA blind de longueur adapte. Dans tous les cas, demandez conseil votre revendeur pour trouver la solution la mieux adapte vos besoins.

Mise en route
Allumage / extinction temporis automatique Cub2 est quip dun systme de dtection automatique du signal audio. Lorsque le contacteur "Power" est plac en mode "Auto", le caisson se mettra immdiatement sous tension ds quun signal audio sera dtect en entre. En mode "Power On", le dtecteur est inactif et le caisson est maintenu sous tension en permanence. Inversement, lorsque aucun signal nest reconnu en entre du caisson au bout de 3 minutes environ, le systme de dtection met automatiquement le caisson en mode veille. En cas dabsence prolonge durant plusieurs jours, il est conseill de mettre le contacteur de mise sous tension sur "Off". En cas dorage, dbranchez le cordon secteur.

Rglage rapide
1 - Raccordez le caisson de grave au secteur. 2 - Mettre linterrupteur de mise sous tension sur "ON". 3 - Connectez le caisson de grave lamplificateur utilis selon lune des 3 mthodes proposes. 4 - Rglez le potentiomtre "CROSSOVER" en position intermdiaire (environ 100 Hz). 5 - Ajustez le potentiomtre "VOLUME" mi-course. Nota : les fonctions "Crossover" et "Phase" sont inoprantes si Cub2 est connect sur lentre "Line Inputs LFE".

Rglages n
1 - Ajustez le niveau de grave en fonction des autres enceintes utilises. Ce rglage pourra se faire en utilisant des programmes musicaux aussi varis que possible. Le grave devra tre prsent sans tre trop pesant. 2 - Choisissez le mode de linverseur de phase (0 ou 180). La bonne position est celle qui procure subjectivement un niveau de grave le plus lev et le plus quilibr. 3 - Affinez le rglage de la frquence de coupure autour de 100 Hz. Plus cette valeur sera rgle bas, plus le grave semblera profond et ample. Plus elle sera leve, plus les impacts seront percutants. Le bon rglage est obtenu lorsque toutes ses caractristiques sont simultanment atteintes. 4 - Rajuster au besoin le rglage du volume de Cub2. 5 - Cette procdure devra tre reproduite chaque fois que le caisson de grave changera de place.

Priode de rodage
Le woofer utilis dans Cub2 est un lment mcanique complexe qui exige une priode de rodage pour fonctionner au mieux de ses possibilits et sadapter aux conditions de temprature et dhumidit de votre environnement. Cette priode varie selon les conditions rencontres et peut se prolonger sur quelques semaines. Pour acclrer cette opration, nous vous conseillons de faire fonctionner ce caisson de grave une vingtaine dheures niveau moyen, sur des programmes musicaux riches en grave. Une fois les caractristiques de lenceinte totalement stabilises, vous pourrez profiter intgralement des performances de votre subwoofer actif.

Perturbations magntiques
Cub2 gnre un champ magntique de fuite pouvant perturber le fonctionnement des appareils qui y sont sensibles. Il est strictement dconseill de lutiliser moins de 50 cm d'un tlviseur (fig. H), qui se rvle particulirement sensible ce phnomne. La gomtrie de limage mais aussi les couleurs peuvent se trouver gravement dformes. Dune manire gnrale, tous les lments sensibles (cassettes audio et vido, stockage de donnes magntique, projecteur et rtroprojecteurs CRT) ne doivent pas tre placs proximit immdiate du caisson de grave.
