The settings recommended in this tutorial are for accessing/using eCampus. You may want to use higher Security and Privacy settings when accessing other sites.

When acessing eCampus, it is best NOT to use a customized browser such as AOL, Juno, MSN, NetZero, SBC, Yahoo, etc. Before taking an Exam/Test/Quiz, etc., it is best to 1. check your browsers settings; 2. turn off all pop-up blockers. If your browsers settings are not set up correctly, you will not see the test timer (found on the status bar, bottom left.)

1. Open up your browser, by clicking on the Internet Explorer icon.

2. Once your browser is opened up, click on Tools.

4. On the Internet Options window, click on (Browsing History) Delete.

(4 of 10) 5. On the Delete Browsing History window, click on the Delete Files (for Temporary Internet Files).

You should delete your Temporary Internet Files at least once a week AND immediately before taking a test.
NOTE: Deleting cookies is optional.

6. On the Delete Files window, click on Yes.

7. Once the Temporary Internet Files are deleted, click on Close.

(6 of 10) You should now be back at the Internet Options window. 8. On the Internet Options window, click on the Security tab. 9. If the slider bar is not already set to Medium, move the slider bar from Medium-high to Medium.

10. On the Internet Options window, click on the Privacy tab.

11. If the slider bar is not set to Medium, move the slider bar to Medium

click on the Default button.

10. On the Internet Options window, click on the Advanced tab.

11. Scroll down until you locate the Multimedia heading.


12. Immediately above the Multimedia heading, locate the Java(Sun) heading. 13. Verify that the Use JRE checkbox is checked. If it is not checked, check it. If you do not have Java(Sun), you can download it, from http://java.com/en/ .

If you have BOTH the Java(Sun)


VM headings, you SHOULD checkboxes checked.

AND the

Microsoft

NOT HAVE BOTH

If both checkboxes are checked, uncheck the Microsoft VM JIT compiler for virtual machine checkbox.

14. At the bottom of the Internet Options window, click on OK to record your changes and close the Internet Options window.

15.Close the Internet Explorer browser window.


If you have multiple Internet Explorer browser windows open, close all of them.

16. Reopen Internet Explorer.

17. Log in to eCampus.

SECURITY REMINDER When you exit eCampus, dont forget to change your browsers Security and Privacy settings back to your preferred settings.
