Work Flow Help
Work Flow Help
This document gives a couple of examples of possible work flows in Interactive Petrophysics. One is a single well workflow the other is a multi-well workflow. IP is a very flexible program and there are quite often many ways to get to the same result. The following work flows are designed to give the inexperienced IP user some pointers to the better ways of running the program. The two work flow menus that come with the program can be easily added to or changed to suit an individual user. The work flows menus have been created using the Custom Menus which can be found in the Tools->Options module.
Single Well
LAS/LBS Load. Load the data file(s). Interactive Depth Shift. Depth shift the curves to put them all on depth with each other. Temperature Gradient. Create a formation temperature curve. Environmental corrections. Correct the depth shifted curves for borehole and invasion effects. Clay Volume. Calculate clay volume from multiple clay indicators. Porosity and Water Saturation. Calculate porosity and water saturation. Cutoff and Summation. Calculate Net pay and Net reservoir zonal summations. Cutoff Sensitivity. Run a cutoff sensitivity analysis on the summation results.
Multi-Well
LAS Batch Load. Load multiple LAS files for all wells. Manage Multi-Well Curve Headers. After loading all the data files this module allows setting of curve Names, Types, Units and Scales in a consistent manor. This facilitates creating of plots to be used multi-well. Manage Multi-Well Zones/Tops. Load the formation tops for all wells. These can be loaded from a spread sheet or an ACSII file. Temperature Gradient. On a Key well run the temperature gradient module using Depth/Temperature pairs or a Gradient that applies to the whole field. Use a TVDSS curve if some wells are deviated. Save the parameter set so that it can be used for all wells. Multi-Well Batch Operation. Run on all wells run the Temperature gradient module using the parameter set saved in the step above. Depth shifting and environmental corrections should now be done on each individual well. There is no way to batch this since each well will have unique requirements. Clay Volume. On a key well calculate clay volume from multiple clay indicators. Porosity and Water Saturation. On the key well calculate porosity and water saturation. Multi-Well Parameter Distribution. Copy the Clay Volume and Porosity and Water Saturation parameter sets from the Key well to the others wells. Use the Tops loaded above to align the parameters sets. Use the option to run the analyses on each well after the parameters have been distributed. At this stage each well should be reviewed and the analyses fine tuned for the individual well. Multi Well Cutoff and Summation. Select all wells and then load the Formation Tops (Topsets button). Setup the input curves, output curves and cutoffs. 3D Parameter Viewer. The 3D parameter viewer can show the spatial view of any of the interpretation parameters or summation results. This is useful to check
the consistence of the field wide results and look for anomalies. To run this each well must have loaded its surface position and have a calculated TVD survey.
