    THE MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATIONS OMC 1 TITLE OF THE COURSE

    OMC 1.1

    The course shall be called Master of

    Computer Applications, abbreviated as MCA.

    OMC 2

    DURATION OF THE COURSE

    OMC 2.1

    The MCA Course shall be of three years

    duration extended over six semesters.

    OMC 2.2

    A candidate shall be allowed a maximum

    duration of six years (12 semesters) to become eligible for th

    ELIGIBILITY

    FOR ADMISSION

    OMC 3.1

    Admission to Master of Computer

    Application Course shall be open to the candidates who have passe

    Provided that for admission to Master of

    Computer Application Course the candidates shall have passe

    Provided further that in respect of

    candidate who has studied and passed one of the subject specified

    OMC 3.2

    Admission to MCA course shall be open to

    the candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying

    There shall be an Entrance Examination

    for admission to the MCA Course. A candidate seeking admis

    The maximum number of seats under various

    categories (regular, sponsored candidates and SC/ST) s

    The graduates other than the graduates of

    VTU shall have to obtain Eligibility Certificate from the VTU

    The calendar of events in respect of the

    course shall be fixed by the University from time to time.

    OMC 4

    ATTENDANCE

    REQUIREMENT

    OMC 4.1

    Each semester of the course shall be

    treated as a separate unit for calculation of the attendance.

    A candidate shall be considered to have

    satisfied the attendance requirement if he/she has attended n

    A candidate, who does not satisfy the

    attendance requirement, mentioned as above, shall not be eligib

    If a candidate, for any reason,

    discontinues the course after the first /third semester he /she may be

    The Principals of the concerned Colleges shall

    display regularly, the list of such candidates who fall sh

    INTERNAL

    ASSESSMENT

    OMC 5.1

    Each candidate shall obtain not less than

    50% of marks prescribed for the Internal Assessment in each

    OMC 5.2

    Internal Assessment Marks shall be based

    on assignments / test/oral examinations and seminar condu

    OMC 5.3

    The candidates obtaining less than 50% of

    the Internal Assessment marks in any subject shall not be e

    OMC 5.4

    The student shall write the Internal

    Assessment Test in Blue Books which shall be maintained by the P

    bear the signatures of the concerned Teacher, Head of the

    be displayed on the Notice Board and corrections, if any, sha

    PAPER SETTING AND EVALUATION OF THEORY

    ANSWER PAPERS

    OMC 6.1

    Question papers in theory subjects shall

    be set by the Examiners appointed for that purpose by the Un

    SEMINAR

    Every candidate shall present a seminar

    on a topic chosen from the latest relevant fields, as per the sc

    seminar shall be awarded by the faculty member in charge of t

    DISSERTATION

    WORK

    OMC 8.1

    The topic and title of the dissertation

    shall be chosen by the candidate in consultation with the guide an

    The dissertation work shall be carried

    out by each candidate independently during the sixth semester u

    OMC 8.3

    If dissertation has to be carried out in

    any industry/factory/organization, outside the campus, the permi

    At the end of sixth semester each

    candidate shall submit a report of the dissertation work duly approve

    OMC 8.5

    The candidate shall submit Two copies of

    the dissertation work toviva Head of the Institution. Duration the voce

    The dissertation shall be evaluated by

    two examiners, one internal examiner and the one external exam viva voce

    OMC 8.7

    The candidate may also choose another

    topic of dissertation under a new guide, if necessary. In such

    OMC 8.8

    A copy of the dissertation shall be sent

    to both the examiners by the head of the institution. The disser

    Both the examiners shall evaluate and

    send marks independently to Registrar (Evaluation).

    OMC 8.10

    Average of the marks awarded by the two

    Examiners shall be the final.

    OMC 8.11

    Both the examiners shall evaluate the

    dissertation normally withinviva voceof not more than 3 weeks fr a period

    OMC 8.12

    ELIGIBILITY

    FOR PASSING

    OMC 9.1

    There shall be a University examination

    at the end of each semester.

    OMC 9.2

    The candidate shall obtain a minimum of

    40% of marks in the University Examination and a minimum o

    OMC 9.3

    The candidate shall obtain a minimum of

    40% of marks in each laboratory examination conducted by t viva voce

    OMC 9.4

    There shall be no restriction for

    promotion from an odd semester to the next even semester provided h

    A Candidate shall be eligible for

    Promotion from even semester to odd semester if he/she has not faile

    OMC 9.6

    A candidate may at his desire reject his latest

    semester results of University Examination with respect

    OMC 9.7

    Applications for rejection shall be

    submitted to the Registrar (Evaluation) of the University, through the

    OMC 9.8

    A candidate who opts for rejection is

    eligible for the award of class and distinction, but is not eligible fo

    OMC 9.9

    The result of final semester

    (dissertation) cannot be rejected.

    AWARD

    OF CLASS & RANK

    OMC 10.1

    Candidates who have passed in all the

    subjects of first to fifth semesters and the dissertation work of s

    Classes shall be awarded to the

    candidates who have passed in all subjects at each semester on the a

    A candidate who secures 70% or more marks

    level to the candidates who have completed the Course base

    level shall be 10 or 1% of students appeared for examination
