Dear Mr.Larry Hincker
I have prepared a psychological autopsy, with report entitled, "The Proper Care of
the Survivors of the Virginia Tech Tragedy." It has been commissioned for placement on
the Amazon web site as an ebook download for its 50 million customers. I am a clinical
and forensic psychologist in semi-retirement whose practice is limited to subcontracts
with other peer professionals.
The enclosed attachments are a copy written draft for your personal review, but
not distribution. This report is not critical of the Virginia Tech administration, its campus
police force nor directs any praise or blame in the handling of the recent crisis. Rather, it

supportively portrays many valuable insights that you might consider of importance.
I am submitting this document as a professional courtesy both to prepare you for
its publication and to give you an opportunity to discuss its conclusions with Human
Resource Associates director Dr. Michael Fields. I believe you will consider it both an
objective and fair assessment. However, I am open to any suggestions you might wish to
discuss with Dr. Fields to elaborate on the concepts.
I strongly urge you to consider review of the "Aftercare Self-Care Suggestions for
Survivors of Catastrophic Events" for your students in Part I and the suggestion of a
Psychological Services Officer in Part II. Dr. Fields is well prepared to help you with
both.
My deadline for any feedback you might wish to provide is May 4, 2007. While
this is a private report, I would encourage you to consider this notice a professional
courtesy and discuss its conclusions with Dr. Fields whose firm is prepared to provide
any professional services you might wish to address.

Good morning-
Late last night the Governor’s Panel report was released. The report which examines the tragedy and the
life of Seung Hui Cho is particularly painful in some areas.
In light of the report it would be easy for us to become disheartened or discouraged. Yet, allow me to be
the first to say to each of you that I remain proud of all of your efforts to support our students, our families,
the university and the community at the time of the tragedy and afterward. Moving forward, we will
revamp and enhance. There is always room for improvement. Yet, we must be mindful of the fact that the
landscape and the prism are now very different than they were on 4/15. As a team, we will intensify our
efforts, create new models and hold our heads high through the process.
