Chapter 1: Understanding What a Computer Is

A computer is an electronic device that takes input, processes it, and produces output. It's used to type
documents, browse the internet, watch videos, and more.

Chapter 2: Basic Computer Parts (Hardware)

Part Function

Monitor Displays text, images, and videos (the screen).

Keyboard Used to type letters, numbers, and commands.

Mouse Moves the pointer and selects items on the screen.

System Unit (CPU) The main part that processes information (the brain).

Speakers Output sound.

Printer Prints documents from the computer.

Chapter 3: Essential Software

Software Purpose

Operating System (Windows, macOS) Runs the computer and manages files and programs.

Microsoft Word Used to type and edit documents.

Excel Used for calculations and tables.

PowerPoint Used to create slideshows and presentations.

Web Browser (Chrome, Edge) Used to access the internet.

Chapter 4: Basic Skills to Practice

1. Turning the Computer On and Off

Press the power button.

To shut down, click "Start" > "Shut Down."

2. Using the Keyboard and Mouse


Mouse: Left-click to select, right-click for options, scroll to move up/down.

Keyboard: Practice typing letters, numbers, and symbols.

3. Opening and Closing Programs

Sending an Email: Open Gmail > Click "Compose" > Write and send.

Don’t click on unknown links.

Keep antivirus software up to date.

Type your name and address in Word.

Create a folder called "My Documents."


Save your work inside that folder.
