“Ek Nayi Soch – Beti Ka Safar”.

*Scene 1: The Birth of a Girl – The First Battle*

(The stage is set like a hospital room. The mother is lying on a bed, exhausted but happy.
The doctor hands her a baby girl.)

Doctor: “Mubarak ho! Beti hui hai!”

(The grandmother and father exchange disappointed looks. The mother, however, smiles at
her newborn.)

Grandmother: “Beti? Bhagwan yeh kya kiya?”

Father: (Shaking his head) “Beta hota toh ghar ka naam roshan karta. Yeh toh paraya dhan
hai!”

Mother: (Tears in her eyes, cradling the baby) “Yeh meri beti hai… ek din yeh bhi naam
roshan karegi!”

(Little Rohit, Siya’s elder brother, runs in excitedly.)

Rohit: “Maa, kya main iske saath khel sakta hoon?”

Grandmother: “Beta, yeh sirf khelne ke liye nahi hai. Tum bade hoke naam kamaoge, aur
yeh ek din kisi aur ke ghar chali jayegi.”

Narrator: “Aaj bhi, kai gharon mein beti ka janm ek bojh mana jata hai. Par kya yeh sach
hai?”

(Lights fade out as the baby cries.)

*Scene 2: Childhood – Dreams and Discrimination*

(The stage now represents a home. Siya, now a 6-year-old girl, watches as her brother gets
a new bicycle while she gets a doll.)

Siya: “Mujhe bhi cycle chahiye!”

Father: “Ladkiyan cycle nahi chalati, tum yeh gudiya se khelo!”

Rohit: (Laughs) “Haan Siya, tum cycle chalane jaogi, toh ghar ka kaam kaun karega?”

(Siya looks at her brother riding the cycle, feeling left out.)

(Next, a school setup. Siya stands proudly holding her report card.)

Siya: “Mummy, Papa! Main class mein first aayi!”

(Father looks indifferent, while the mother claps lightly.)

Father: “Tum toh padh likh bhi logi, par shaadi ke baad toh ghar hi sambhalna hai!”

Rohit: (Teasing) “Haan haan, padhai se kya hoga? Akhir tumhe ek din kitchen hi sambhalna
hai!”

Narrator: “Ek ladki ka bachpan bediyon mein band hota hai, jismein sapne dekhne ki bhi
azaadi nahi hoti.”

(Lights fade out as Siya hugs her report card.)

*Scene 3: Teenage – Struggles of a Growing Girl*

(Siya, now a teenager, is ready for school, adjusting her dupatta. Her mother looks
worried.)
Mother: “Dhyan se jao! Koi kuch kahe toh muh mat lagana.”

Siya: “Par mummy, ladkiyon ko hi kyun samjhaya jata hai? Galti toh unki hai jo ghoorte
hain!”

(Siya walks on the road. A group of boys whistle and make comments. She walks faster,
uncomfortable. She tells her friend at school.)

Siya: “Who ladke raste bhar khade hote hain, ajeeb tarah se dekhte hain!”

Friend: “Mat batao kisi ko, warna log tumhe hi doshi manayenge.”

Narrator: “Ek ladki ki izzat sirf uske kapdon aur vyavhar se hi kyun jodi jati hai? Samaj ki
soch badalne ki zaroorat hai!”

(Lights fade as Siya lowers her eyes, helpless but determined.)

*Scene 4: College and Career – Breaking Barriers*

(Siya, now a young woman, stands with a college admission form. Her father and Rohit look
unconvinced.)

Father: “Ladkiyon ke liye engineering? Log kya kahenge?”

Rohit: “Haan Papa, isse ghar ka kaam seekhna chahiye, college jaane ka kya fayda?”

(Siya joins college despite resistance. Scene shifts to her workplace, where she faces bias.)

Boss: “Siya, tum bohot talented ho, but promotion Rohan ko milega.”

Siya: “Par maine usse zyada kaam kiya hai!”

Boss: “Shaadi ke baad toh chhod dogi na job?”

(Rohit smirks looking at Siya ).

Boss: Congratulations Rohit. Now you can move back to your cabin .

(Rohit moves out ).

Siya helplessly looks at her boss .

Boss: Siya agar tmhe promotion chahiye to tmhe mere kch needs pure krne honge .

(Siya gives weird looks to her boss and moves out )

Narrator: “Ek ladki chahe jitni mehnat kare, uski pehchaan hamesha ek sawaal banke reh
jati hai.”

*Scene 5: Marriage – The New Struggles*

(Siya, now married to Raghav , juggles work and home duties. Raghav initially supports her
but soon changes.)

Mother-in-law: “Bahu, job ki kya zaroorat? Ghar dekhna tumhara farz hai!”

Siya: “Par mummy ji, main dono sambhal sakti hoon!”

(Siya struggles to manage work and home, while Raghav begins complaining.)

Raghav: “Tum hamesha kaam mein hi lagi rehti ho! Ghar pe bhi thoda dhyan do!”
Siya: “Agar main office jaati hoon, toh tum bhi ghar ke kaam mein madad kar sakte ho na?”

(Raghav gets angry and slaps siya )

Siya starts crying and raghav leaves the room in anger.

Narrator: “Shaadi ke baad, ladkiyon se sirf samjhota karne ki umeed kyun ki jati hai?”

*Scene 6: Motherhood – A New Beginning*

(The stage is set in Siya and Raghav’s home. Siya is sitting on the sofa, looking pale and
exhausted. She holds her head, feeling dizzy. Raghav walks in, notices her, and looks
concerned.)

Raghav: “Siya, tum theek toh ho? Pichle kuch dino se tum bohot thaki thaki lag rahi ho.”

Siya: (Forcing a smile) “Haan, bas thodi weakness lag rahi hai. Shaayad kaam zyada ho
gaya hai.”

Raghav: “Doctor ke paas jaane ka socha hai?”

Siya: “Haan, kal jaungi.”

(Lights dim. Scene transitions to a doctor’s clinic. Siya sits anxiously on the examination
table. The doctor enters with reports.)

Doctor: (Smiling) “Mubarak ho, Siya! Tum maa banne wali ho!”

(Siya’s eyes widen, a mix of happiness and nervousness washes over her.)
Siya: “Sach?!” (Touches her stomach, but then her smile fades as she remembers her
family’s expectations.)

(Doctor hesitates, then speaks in a lower voice.)

Doctor: “Siya… scan se pata chala hai ki tumhe beti hone wali hai.”

(Siya freezes. Her hands, which were protectively placed on her stomach, tremble.)

Siya: (Muttering to herself) “Beti…?”

(She recalls her in-laws and husband’s repeated words: “Ladka hona chahiye… vansh aage
badhega…”)

Siya: (Shaking her head) “Agar yeh baat ghar pe pata chal gayi toh? Who log…”

(She hesitates, then looks at the doctor with pleading eyes.)

Siya: “Mujhe… mujhe isse abort karna hoga.”

(Doctor looks at her in shock.)

Doctor: “Siya! Tum samajh rahi ho tum kya keh rahi ho?”

Siya: (Tears in her eyes) “Mere paas koi option nahi hai, doctor. Mera ghar mujhe kabhi
accept nahi karega agar main ek beti ko janm deti hoon.”

(Doctor holds her hand gently.)

Doctor: “Siya, tum ek maa ho… aur maa banne ka matlab sirf janm dena nahi hota. Maa
who hoti hai jo duniya se lad kar apni santan ki raksha kare.”

Siya: (Shaking her head) “Par main akeli hoon…”

Doctor: “Tum akeli nahi ho. Tumhari beti tumhare saath hai… tumhare andar ek nayi
zindagi hai. Tumhe usse jeene ka mauka dena hoga!”

(Siya silently weeps, looking down at her stomach. The lights dim as she exits the clinic,
lost in deep thought.)

(Siya returns home and lies on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Suddenly, a soft, innocent
voice echoes around her.)

Unborn Baby’s Voice: *poem*

(Siya bursts into tears realizing the mistake she was about to make. She hugs her stomach
protectively.)

Siya: (Whispers) “Haan… main tumhe jeene dungi.”

(Lights fade as Siya holds her stomach, determined.)

(The scene transitions to Siya’s home. She gathers the family in the living room.)

Siya: (Smiling) “Mujhe ek bohot achi khabar deni hai… main maa banne wali hoon!”

(Her mother-in-law and father-in-law exchange happy glances. Raghav grins proudly.)

Mother-in-law: “Wah! Bahut achi khabar hai! Ab sirf ek ladka ho toh ghar ki kismat chamak
jaaye!”

Father-in-law: “Haan, iss baar vansh ka waris aana chahiye.”

(Siya forces a smile, but inside, she feels suffocated. She hides the truth about the baby’s
gender.)

(Later, in Siya and Raghav’s bedroom. Siya is sitting on the bed, lost in thought. Raghav
notices and sits beside her.)
Raghav: “Tum itni tensed kyun lag rahi ho?”

Siya: (Pauses) “Raghav… agar ladki hui toh?”

(Raghav’s smile fades.)

Raghav: “Siya, mujhe ladka chahiye. Ek ladka jo hamare naam ko aage le jaaye.”

Siya: “Par ladkiyan bhi toh kuch kar sakti hain!”

Raghav: “Baatein mat banao, Siya! Tum samajhti kyun nahi? Yeh sirf meri soch nahi hai,
yeh puri duniya ka soch hai!”

Siya: “Aur agar ladki ho gayi toh?”

Raghav: (Angrily) “Toh tumhe phir se sochna hoga… main ek ladki nahi chahata!”

(Siya looks at him in shock, heartbroken.)

Narrator: “Ek maa ki mamta aur ek pita ki soch ke beech kab tak ek nayi zindagi pishti
rahegi?”

(Lights fade as Siya turns away from Raghav, holding her stomach protectively.)

(Scene shifts to a hospital. Siya is on a hospital bed, exhausted. The doctor hands her a
newborn wrapped in pink.)

Doctor: “Mubarak ho Siya, beti hui hai!”

(Siya holds her daughter, eyes filled with love and pride.)
(Meanwhile, in the waiting area, her family waits anxiously. The doctor approaches.)

Doctor: “Badhai ho, beti hui hai!”

(Raghav and his family’s expressions darken. The mother-in-law sighs in disappointment.)

Mother-in-law: “Ladka hota toh accha hota…”

Father-in-law: “Humein ek vansh ka waaris chahiye tha!”

(Raghav, still in shock, walks into the room and sees Siya cradling their daughter. Siya
looks at him firmly.)

Siya: “Raghav, yeh meri beti hai. Tum chahe accept karo ya nahi, main uska saath kabhi
nahi chhodungi.”

Raghav: (Coldly) “Siya, soch lo… tum mujhe chhod sakti ho, par yeh duniya tumhe jeene
degi?”

(Siya stands up, holding her baby protectively.)

Siya: “Agar duniya badalni pade toh main badal dungi, lekin apni beti ko jeene ka haq dila
ke rahungi!”

(Her voice echoes with power. The family watches in stunned silence. Siya turns to leave,
stepping forward with confidence.)

Narrator: “Ek maa ki himmat duniya ki har bedi tod sakti hai. Har beti ek naya savera hai,
bas zaroorat hai ek nayi soch ki!”

(Lights fade as Siya walks forward, holding her daughter close to her heart, victorious.)

(End of Skit.)
