art, cohesiveness to the art, and how the patterns work together brings unity
to the picture or object.
§Variety – the complement to unity and is needed to keep an artwork
interesting

§ Harmonious Unity. It results from the combination of identical
qualities or invariable patterns.

§Contrasting Unity. It is the opposition of the various elements and forms
within the balance and unity of the whole work.

§Progressive Unity. It is the richness of integration that can be transmitted
either simultaneously as in the visual arts or successively as in the progressive
movements of melodies in songs (Panizo & Rustia, 1969).
HARMONY
§Creates cohesiveness by stressing the similarities of the distinct elements of a
composition
§Colors relate according to color theory principles, textures are consistent across
the composition, and balancing the organic and the geometric shapes
