CODING - DECODING

LETTER CODING:

Alphabets in a word are replaced by other alphabets according to a specific rule to know its code. So the common rule should de
detected first. Some examples are given below:
Example:
If MADRAS is coded as NBESBT. How is BOMBAY coded in that code? Ans: CPNCBZ
(a) CPNCPX (b) CPNCBZ (c) CPOCBZ (d) CQOCBZ (e) None of these
NUMBER CODING:
In this each alphabets or words are assigned to the numeric values we should observe the given letters and the assigned values and use
the same rule to find the value to of given code. Some examples are given below:
Example: If Apple is coded as 25563, Rung is coded as 7148. Then purple is coded as
(a)51763 (b) 51762 (c) 51736 (d) 51726 (e) None of these Ans: 517563
FORWARD SEQUENCING NUMBERING:
Example: If in a certain code ‘ACE’ = ‘1-3-5’, How will you code ‘ACTED’? Ans: 1-3-20-5-4

BACKWARD SEQUENCING NUMBERING:


Example: If ‘DATE’ is coded as ’23-26-7-22’.How will you code ‘ZEAL’? Ans: ‘1-22-26-15’
CODING WITH CHARACTERS AND SIGNS:

(i) Punctuation marks (ii) Greek and roman characters (iii) Mathematical Symbol (iv) Dots and Lines (hyphen/dash)

Example: If ‘PENCIL’ is coded as, ? @ , = ; 7, and PAPER is coded as, ? 9 ? @ 5, how will you code CLIP? Ans: = 7 ; ?
