ACTIVITIES PERFORMES
INTRODUCTION:
Tourism plays a vital role in the economic development, cultural exchange, and global
connectivity of a region or country. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, the
expectations of travellers have evolved beyond conventional sightseeing. Modern tourists
seek experiences that are immersive, personalized, sustainable, and digitally enhanced. As
a result, tourism promotion must also evolve through innovative approaches to meet these
changing demands and tap into new market opportunities.
OBJECTIVES:
SUMMARY:
As part of the "Tourism Promotion – Innovative Approaches" activity, we visited three key
locations: Mysore Palace, ISKCON Temple, and GKVK (Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra).
Each site provided a unique theme—heritage, spirituality, and eco-tourism.
These visits demonstrated how digital media, immersive technology, and localized
storytelling can transform tourism into a more attractive, informative, and sustainable
experience.
CONCLUSION:
The visits to Mysore Palace, ISKCON, and GKVK highlighted the power of innovative
strategies in tourism promotion. We realized that blending tradition with technology can

preserving cultural heritage and promoting responsible travel practices.
INTRODUCTION:
To accelerate the efforts to achieve universal sanitation coverage and to put focus on
sanitation, the Prime Minister of India had launched the Swachh Bharat Mission on 2nd
October 2014. The mission was implemented as a nation-wide campaign/Janandolan which
aimed at eliminating open defecation in rural areas during the period 2014 to 2019 through
mass scale behavior change, construction of household-owned and community-owned
toilets and establishing mechanisms for monitoring toilet construction and usage.
Under the mission, all villages, Gram Panchayats, Districts, States and Union
Territories in India declared themselves "open-defecation free" (ODF) by 2 October 2019,
the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, by constructing over 100 million toilets
in rural India. To ensure that the open defecation free behaviors are sustained, no one is
left behind, and that solid and liquid waste management facilities are accessible, the
Mission is moving towards the next Phase II of SBMG i.e ODF-Plus. ODF Plus activities
under Phase II of Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) will reinforce ODF behaviors and
focus on providing interventions for safe management of solid and liquid waste in villages.
OBJECTIVES:
• Open defecation free behaviors are sustained and no one is left behind.
• Solid and liquid waste management facilities are accessible and reinforce ODF
behaviors, with a focus on providing interventions for safe management of solid
and liquid waste in villages.
• To encourage cost-effective and appropriate technologies for ecologically safe and
sustainable sanitation.
• To develop, wherever required, community-managed sanitation systems focusing
on scientific Solid & Liquid Waste Management systems for overall cleanliness in
rural areas.
• To create a significant positive impact on gender and promote social inclusion by
improving sanitation, especially in marginalized communities.
SUMMARY:
The Swachh Bharat Cleanliness Drive at Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) was a
student-led initiative aimed at contributing to the nationwide mission for a cleaner India.
The drive took place within the college campus, where students actively participated in
cleaning various areas including the pavements, garden surroundings, and open pathways.
Equipped with gloves, brooms, and collection bags, the group focused on removing
litter such as plastic wrappers, paper waste, and other debris scattered around the premises.
The objective was to improve the hygiene and appearance of the campus while also
promoting awareness about environmental responsibility. The activity emphasized the
importance of maintaining clean surroundings and encouraged fellow students to adopt
sustainable practices.
CONCLUSION:
The Swachh Bharat Clean Drive at BIT College was a successful effort that made a visible
difference in the campus environment. By removing accumulated waste and promoting
cleanliness, the drive helped create a healthier and more welcoming atmosphere for all
students and staff.
Beyond cleaning, the event served as a motivation for participants to take ownership
of their surroundings and lead by example. It reflected the spirit of civic responsibility and
showed how collective action can drive positive change. The success of this initiative lays
the foundation for more such efforts in the future, reinforcing the long-term vision of a
cleaner and greener India.
Water is one of the most essential natural resources for life, agriculture, industry, and
overall ecosystem balance. However, with the rapid pace of urbanization, industrialization,
and population growth, water scarcity and pollution have become pressing global
challenges. Unsustainable practices like over-extraction, wastage, and poor wastewater
management are depleting water sources and threatening future availability.
OBJECTIVES:
SUMMARY:
As part of the activity titled "Developing Sustainable Water Management System", we had
the opportunity to visit the Visvesvaraya Rain Water Harvesting Theme Park in Bengaluru,
which is an excellent demonstration centre established to educate the public on various
sustainable water conservation techniques.
During the visit, we gained practical insights into different components and
technologies used in water conservation and groundwater recharge. One of the key
takeaways was the understanding of the “Dement Ring Well” – a circular structure used for
effective borewell recharge, allowing filtered rainwater to percolate into the ground and
replenish groundwater levels.
We also observed the use of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) gutters, which are
lightweight, durable, and effective in channelling rooftop rainwater into storage or recharge
systems. Another important element we learned about was the swale – a shallow, vegetated
trench designed to slow down rainwater runoff, promote filtration, and support soil
moisture retention.
CONCLUSION:
The visit to the Visvesvaraya Rain Water Harvesting Theme Park was an eye-opening and
educational experience that highlighted the critical need for sustainable water management
in today’s world. Through hands-on exposure to various practical models such as the
Dement Ring Well, FRP gutters, swales, and ferrocement tanks with cloth filters, we
understood how simple yet effective systems can be implemented to conserve water and
recharge groundwater sources.

INTRODUCTION:
With the rapid advancement of digital technology, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has
emerged as a revolutionary step in enabling instant and secure cashless transactions across
India. Despite its widespread use, a significant number of small vendors and shopkeepers
are still unaware of how to use UPI platforms like PhonePe, Google Pay, or Paytm.
As part of our Digital Awareness Campaign under the Rural Outreach Program, we
aimed to educate such individuals on the importance and usage of UPI for seamless
transactions, enhancing both customer convenience and financial transparency.
OBJECTIVES:
SUMMARY:
As part of the initiative, we visited various local shops and vendors who had not yet adopted
UPI-based payment systems. Through one-on-one interactions, we explained the
importance of cashless transactions and taught them how to download, register, and use the
PhonePe app for receiving payments.
This hands-on guidance helped vendors overcome hesitation and build confidence in
using digital platforms for their daily business.
CONCLUSION:
The UPI awareness drive was a valuable and impactful experience, as we were able to reach
out to local vendors and empower them with digital payment knowledge. By helping
shopkeepers transition to UPI, we not only promoted financial literacy but also supported
the broader mission of a Digital India. This activity gave us real-world exposure in
communicating technical concepts effectively and reinforced our role as responsible and
informed citizens.
INTRODUCTION:
Solid waste management is one of the most urgent environmental challenges facing urban
and rural areas today. With the rise in population, consumerism, and industrial activity, the
amount of waste generated has increased dramatically. Improper garbage disposal leads to
serious issues such as pollution, health hazards, and degradation of natural resources.
Through this activity, the focus is on understanding the various types of waste
(biodegradable, non-biodegradable, hazardous, and e-waste), exploring innovative waste
management practices, and designing efficient systems that are cost-effective, eco-friendly,
and easy to implement at the community or institutional level.
OBJECTIVES:

engage in the process of waste segregation. Our primary focus was on segregating dry and
wet waste at the source, which is a critical first step in improving the overall waste
management system.
We observed firsthand how waste segregation helps in reducing the volume of waste
sent to landfills and promotes the recycling and composting of organic materials. We worked
closely with the BBMP workers to learn the logistics of waste collection and the challenges
involved in educating the public about proper waste disposal. This hands-on experience
gave us practical insights into community participation and the role of municipal authorities
in implementing efficient waste management practices.
CONCLUSION:
The activity was a valuable learning experience that highlighted the importance of efficient
garbage disposal systems in creating cleaner and more sustainable environments. By
collaborating with BBMP workers and engaging directly in dry and wet waste segregation,
we gained practical knowledge about the challenges and solutions associated with waste
management in urban areas.
This experience reinforced the need for a systematic and organized approach to waste
management, where communities play a crucial role in ensuring that waste is segregated,
recycled, and disposed of responsibly. Additionally, it emphasized that technological
innovation and awareness programs are essential for promoting responsible waste disposal
practices and achieving long-term environmental sustainability.
2.7 PLANTATION
INTRODUCTION
In recent decades, deforestation, rapid urbanization, and industrialization have led to a
drastic decline in the planet’s green cover, triggering climate change, global warming,
and environmental imbalances. Trees are the lungs of our planet, offering life-sustaining
benefits such as oxygen production, carbon sequestration, groundwater preservation,
and temperature regulation. Recognizing these alarming environmental challenges,
plantation drives have become a necessary and impactful means of restoring ecological
health.
Tree plantation is not only about planting saplings—it is an act of commitment to the
future, a symbol of sustainability, and a call to action for environmental stewardship.
As part of the AICTE Activity Points Programme, I participated in a plantation drive at
Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra (GKVK), Bengaluru, a campus renowned for its
green cover and agricultural research initiatives. The activity focused on raising
environmental awareness among students, enhancing biodiversity, and contributing to
the green campus initiative.
OBJECTIVES
SUMMARY
The plantation drive was conducted at GKVK – Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra,
Bengaluru, which is affiliated with the University of Agricultural Sciences and serves
as a center of excellence for agronomy, environmental research, and sustainable
farming practices. The site was selected not only for its fertile soil and green-friendly
infrastructure but also for its symbolic importance as an educational hub that values
biodiversity and eco- consciousness.
Prior to the plantation day, planning sessions were held to identify the most suitable
species of trees and the zones within the campus that would benefit from increased
green cover. Native and adaptive species such as Neem (Azadirachta indica), Peepal
(Ficus religiosa), Ashoka (Polyalthia longifolia), and fruit-bearing trees like Guava
and Mango were selected for their ability to thrive in the region’s climatic conditions,
provide shade, improve air quality, and offer ecological benefits such as attracting
pollinators and conserving groundwater..
CONCLUSION
The plantation drive at GKVK was more than just a one-day event—it was a
statement of intent toward a greener, healthier, and more sustainable world. By
planting trees in a campus dedicated to agriculture and environment, we aligned
ourselves with a larger vision of restoring ecological balance and preserving
natural heritage. The act of planting even a single tree becomes meaningful
when it is done with purpose, care, and the intent to nurture it.
This initiative gave me practical exposure to environmental action and
strengthened my belief that students can be changemakers in addressing
ecological challenges. It taught me the value of teamwork, planning, and
sustainability, while also instilling in me a deep appreciation for nature’s role in
human well-being.
Blood donation is a noble and life-saving act that plays a crucial role in healthcare. It helps
patients suffering from severe blood loss, surgeries, accidents, and chronic illnesses. The
National Service Scheme (NSS) actively promotes blood donation as part of its community
service initiatives. Through organized blood donation camps, NSS volunteers spread
awareness about its importance. These efforts ensure a steady supply of blood to hospitals
and emergency centers. Blood donation also fosters a spirit of social responsibility and
compassion among students. It is a small act that makes a big difference in someone’s life.
OBJECTIVES
CONCLUSION
The blood donation camp organized under the NSS was a meaningful step towards saving
lives and spreading awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation. The
active participation of students and volunteers reflected their commitment to social service
and compassion for others. Such initiatives not only support the healthcare system but also
help build a responsible and caring society. The NSS will continue to promote similar
activities in the future, inspiring more individuals to contribute to this noble cause
Chapter 3
Conclusion
The diverse social and outreach activities carried out under the National Service Scheme
(NSS) have provided enriching experiences that fostered both personal development and
community welfare. Participation in cleanliness drives such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,
walkathons promoting awareness on proper garbage disposal, and efficient waste
management initiatives instilled a strong sense of environmental responsibility and public
hygiene among volunteers.
Collectively, these NSS-led efforts have played a significant role in shaping well-
rounded individuals who are socially aware, responsible, and committed to the service of
the nation. These experiences embody the true spirit of the NSS motto — "Not Me But
You" — fostering empathy, unity, and a lifelong dedication to community development
and nation-building.
