Introduction to Computer
Computer: A machine that stores, processes, and shows data quickly.
Data: Raw facts or input given to the computer.
Information: Processed data that is useful.
Basic Parts of Computer
Monitor: The screen that shows the output.
CPU (Central Processing Unit): The brain of the computer.
Keyboard: Used to type words and numbers.
Mouse: Used to control the pointer on the screen.
Printer: Prints the computer's work on paper.
Scanner: Sends pictures or documents into the computer.
Input and Output Devices
Input Devices: Devices used to give data to the computer.
Examples: Keyboard, Mouse, Scanner.
Output Devices: Devices that show the result.
Examples: Monitor, Printer, Speakers.
Functions of a Computer
1. Input – Takes data.
2. Process – Works on data.
3. Storage – Saves data.
4. Output – Gives results.
5. Control – Manages all actions.
Storage Devices
Hard Disk: Stores large amounts of data permanently.
Pen Drive / USB: Small, portable device to store data.
CD/DVD: Round disk to store music, videos, or files.
RAM: Temporary memory used during work. Data is lost when power goes off.

Hardware: The physical parts you can touch (e.g., mouse, monitor).
Software: The programs that tell the computer what to do.
Types of Software
System Software: Helps run the computer (e.g., Windows, Linux).
Application Software: Helps users do tasks (e.g., MS Word, Excel).
Operating System (OS)
Software that runs the whole computer.
Examples: Windows, macOS, Android.
Internet and Web
Internet: A global network that connects computers.
WWW (World Wide Web): A collection of websites.
Browser: A program used to open websites (e.g., Chrome).
Website: A group of web pages (e.g., www.google.com).
URL: The address of a website.
Internet Tools
Email: Sending and receiving messages online.
Search Engine: Finds information (e.g., Google).
Social Media: Online platforms to connect with people (e.g., Facebook, WhatsApp).
