Through this project we aim to explore various Excel features such as conditional
formatting, formula application, sorting and tabular representation. Using Excel functions
we calculate the total marks, percentage and average marks.
Objectives
This assignment is to make us clear about the various functions of the different options
available in the home tab. It also allows us to know how to do different mathematical
operations in excel and how to import data from an external file into excel.
Section-A
Steps:
1. Select the cells and choose the option merge and centre in the home tab
Q2) Change the common heading colour and make it bold. Change the font size to
16.
Steps:
1. Select the text and choose the option bold in the font option in home tab and to
change the font size, select the option font size in the home tab.
2. To change colour of the cell, select the cell and choose the fill option in the home
tab.
Q3) Change the variable heading size to 14 and make it Italic. Make it to the centre
alignment.
Steps:
1. To change the heading size select the text and choose the font size option in the
home tab.
2. To make it italic, select the text and choose the italic option in the font option in the
home tab.
3. To make it to centre alignment select the text and choose the option centre
alignment in the home tab.
Q4) Add a column titled ‘Email ID’, and fill the data. Wrap the text into multiple
lines.
Steps:
1. To wrap the text, select the text and choose the option wrap text in the alignment
option in the home tab.
Q5) Find the total and average marks of each subject of the class.
Steps:
1. Select the data and choose the auto sum option in the home tab and select sum.
2. Select the data and choose the auto sum option in the home tab and select average
Q6) Find the top 5 students in each subject and highlight it.
Steps:
1. Select the data and choose the option conditional formatting in the home tab.
2. Then select the option top/bottom rules and enter the criteria.
