Detailed Notes on Streams After 12th

After completing Class 12, students can choose from a wide range of academic and professional

streams. The choice usually depends on the subjects studied in Class 12 (Science, Commerce,

Arts) and the student's interests and career goals.

1. SCIENCE STREAM

a. Engineering (B.E./B.Tech): Entrance via JEE, MHT CET, etc.

- Computer, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, IT, etc.

b. Medical (MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS): Entrance via NEET.

c. Pure Sciences (B.Sc): Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, etc.

d. Allied Health Sciences: BPT, B.Sc Nursing, BMLT, etc.

e. Architecture (B.Arch): Entrance via NATA.

f. Defence Services: NDA exam for Army, Navy, Air Force.

g. Other: BCA, B.Sc Agriculture, Environmental Science.

2. COMMERCE STREAM

a. B.Com (General, Banking, Accounting, etc.)

b. BBA/BMS (Bachelor of Business Administration/Management Studies)

c. CA (Chartered Accountancy)

d. CS (Company Secretary)

e. CMA (Cost and Management Accounting)

f. BAF (Accounting & Finance), BFM (Financial Markets), BBI (Banking & Insurance)

g. Hotel Management, Event Management

3. ARTS/HUMANITIES STREAM

a. B.A. in Psychology, History, Sociology, Political Science, Literature, etc.


b. BFA (Fine Arts), Performing Arts, Visual Communication

c. Journalism & Mass Communication

d. Law (BA LLB/ BBA LLB): Through CLAT or state-level entrance

e. Social Work (BSW)

f. Languages: BA in English, Hindi, Foreign Languages

4. VOCATIONAL AND SKILL-BASED COURSES

a. Diploma in Graphic Design, Animation, Fashion Designing

b. Air Hostess/Cabin Crew Training

c. Digital Marketing, Data Analytics, Web Development

d. Polytechnic Diploma in Engineering

5. GOVERNMENT AND COMPETITIVE EXAMS

a. SSC CHSL, Railway, Banking Clerk exams

b. State government clerical or police exams

c. UPSC NDA for defence (after 12th with PCM)
