PROJECT DESCRIPTON

The term Word Processing refers to the activity carried out using a computer and a suitable software to create, view ,edit, manipulate, transmit, store, retrieve and print documents

Saving a document
The first time the documents is saved, this software prompts for a name. Naming the file enables the user to find and open that file again. To save a document for a first time following steps are used. File save command is selected or save icon in the tool bar is clicked. A save as dialog box appears on the screen To select a drive, up one level icon in the tool bar is Clicked. Once to get the list of drives. on the list of drives a double click is Made on the required drive .Now a list of folders available on that drive Is displayed. A double click is made on the required folder and the file name Is given in the name list box. The type of document as that it saved is given in the file type list box and save button is pressed. The document is now saved and a file name appear in the title bar. once a file is saved under a name ,to save it again the same need not be entered again. ctrl + s is the keyboard shortcut for saving the document.

Closing a document.
After a document is saved ,it is not closed .It remains open so that the user can continue working. When the work is finished, the user should save and close the document . This can be done by using the Fieclose command.

Opening a document.
To reopen a document that has been saved and closed, the fileopen command can be used. An alternate method of opening files is to click the open icon in the tool bar.

Scrolling the document


If the document is long the text can be scrolled through without moving the insertion point. This can be easily done by using the Mouse. The scroll arrows and scroll bar can be used for this purpose. There are two sets of scroll arrows; one for up and down movement and The other for the left and right movement of the document. To scroll left and right the left and right arrow respectively should be clicked .To scroll up and down the up and down arrow respectively should be clicked.

To scroll a relative distance in the document the scroll box should be drawn u or down . scrolling the document does not move the Insertion point

Selecting text
Even though the document is built up by typing one character at a time, while editing and formatting one always work with Words, lines, paragraphs and sometimes with the whole document. For this purpose one should know how to select the text.Once the text can be selected, change can be made to that text. The text can be moved, copied and made ass bold For selecting the text with the mouse, Insertion point is moved to the start of the text to be selected. Then left mouse should be clicked, held down and dragged across the text to be selected. When the intended text is selected ,the mouse button should be released. For selecting the text with the keyboard, following the steps are to be followed: Insertion point is moved to the start of the text to be selected. The shift key is pressed down and the movement keys are Used to highlight the required text. When the shift key is released, the Text is selected.

Moving the Text


The selected text can be easily cut and pasted in the required location. For this process the following steps are to be followed. Select the text that want to move to the new position . Edit cut is selected or cut icon in the tool bar is selected to cut the text. Insertion point is moved to the place where the text is to be pasted. Edit paste is selected or paste icon in the tool bar is clicked to paste the text in the new position. Ctrl + x and ctrl + v is the keyboard shortcuts to cut and paste the text respectively.

Copying the text


For copying, first the text to be copied is selected then Edit copy is selected. The insertion point is selected where the copy of the text should appear and paste icon in the tool bar is clicked. . Ctrl + c and ctrl + v is the keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste the text respectively.

Searching the text


To search for a particular text during the search when this software finds a match, it highlights it, and the dialog box remains open. The user can continue until the user finds the required match.

For searching the text, the user has to select Edit search , then search dialog box appears on the screen. In the search Text box the text to be found is typed and then he/she have to click search button . The dialog box remains open so that the text can be Searched again. Changing the font Part of word processing skill is choosing an appropriate font for the document. A font is a set of characters and Numbers in a certain style. ach font looks different from other fonts , like Times New Roman, look profeesional and are suited for business documents . Some fonts, like Fajita are decorative. Some fonts like symbols and wingdings, are actually a sets of symbols. Such a font can be used to insert special characters in the document . For selecting such fonts we have to click the font names from the combo box in the toll bar.

Changing the font color


To use a different text color , click formatforeground Color , then held down a color palette is displayed from which the The required color can be selected.

Changing the Background


To use a different color for background , click Formatforeground Color , then held down a color palette is displayed from which the we can pick the desired color.

Paragraph alignment
In addition to formatting individual chunks of text, One can also format the paragraphs. One of the most common changes is to change the alignment of a paragraphs . A paragraph is Any text followed by a hard return. A single line, for instance , can be a paragraph. One can apply the paragraph formatting to a single Paragraphs or to several paragraphs. When typing in this software , all text is left aligned , and the right margin is ragged or uneven. For other paragraphs ,one may want to make a change. For instance, one can center the document title or right align like a newspaper banner. Four types of alignment can be selected , and the best way to make a change is to use the formatting toolbar, following steps are used: To change the alignment of one paragraph, first click within that paragraph. To change the alignment of several paragraphs, select the ones needing change

Changing window Style


The advanced feature that was included within this software is look and feel option. By using this facilities, we can Change the appearance of the window including the elements of that window such as frame, buttons, text field, scroll bars, radio buttons, tool bar and so on in various format.

Print option
The another advanced feature that was included within this software is the printing feature. This can be done by clicking Print icon in the tool bar. Then print dialog will appears on the screen, within this we can specify the number of copies, page range , and the page size. . It also includes Properties for specifying page orientation. With in this properties we Have to specify the name of the printer that we are going .
