1. In the given circuit below R1= 8Ω, R2=10 Ω, R3=23 Ω, R4=18 Ω, L1=20 mH, L2=15 mH,
L3=35 mH and C1=45 µF and excited by an AC voltage source of V(t)= X Sin(Yt).

if X=300 and frequency is 50Hz, then find following for (a) S1 is open & S2 is closed
(b) S1 is closed & S2 is open (c) S1 is closed & S2 is closed
(i) Equivalent impedance (ii)current (iii) phase angle (iv) power factor (v)find active power,
reactive power and apparent power (vi) Draw the phasor diagram

2. In the given circuit below R1= 8Ω, R2=14 Ω, R3=20 Ω, R4=15 Ω, L1=20 mH, L2=25 mH,
L3=45 mH and C1=45 µF and excited by an AC voltage source of V(t)= X Sin(Yt).

3. In the circuit shown below, the resistor 60 Ω absorbs an average power of 240 W.
Determine the following.

(a) Find the equivalent impedance of the circuit.


(b) Determine the supply voltage and current in each branch
(c) Determine the active power, reactive power and apparent power
(d) Determine the overall power factor and draw the phasor diagram

4. A capacitance of 120 µF having an internal resistance of 30Ω is connected in parallel to


an inductance of 50 mH having an internal resistance of 20Ω.
A) If this combination is excited by an AC supply of 220V, 50 Hz. Find impedance
offered by each branch, equivalent impedance, current in each branch, total

make maximum current supplied by source and value of maximum current also.

6. A capacitance of 60 µF having an internal resistance of 20Ω is connected in parallel to an
inductance of 100 mH having an internal resistance of 40Ω. If this combination is excited
by an AC supply of 220V, 50 Hz. Find impedance offered by each branch, equivalent
impedance, current in each branch, total Suggest an element which is to be connect in series
to above combination to make maximum current supplied by source and value of maximum
current also.

shift between the two currents in two parallel branches should be 600.

power factor, P, Q and S and draw the phasor diagram also.
ii) Case (II): X=200, Y=0 find Equivalent impedance, current, phase angle,
power factor, P, Q and S and draw the phasor diagram also.
iii) Case (III): X=0, Y=377 find Equivalent impedance, current, phase angle,
power factor, P, Q and S and draw the phasor diagram also.
iv) Case (IV): X=0, Y=0 find Equivalent impedance, current, phase angle,
power factor, P, Q and S and draw the phasor diagram also.

8. Determine the following for the circuit shown below?

(a) Find the equivalent impedance of the circuit.


(b) Determine current in each branch and Voltage expressions V1 and V2.
(c) Determine the active power, reactive power and apparent power
(d) Determine the overall power factor and draw the phasor diagram

9. A capacitance of 50 µF having an internal resistance of 10Ω is connected in parallel to


an inductance of 100 mH having an internal resistance of 50Ω.
D) If this combination is excited by an AC supply of 220V, 50 Hz. Find impedance

B) If an un known element is connected in series to above combination such that
to make power factor should be unity. Find its element and value.
C) Draw the phasor diagram for above combination.
