Gender, Equality, Gender And Gender Equality In Sports
A man versus a woman, the Battle of the Sexes , it was a match that viewers tuned into everywhere.
There was so much doubt expressed that a woman, Billie Jean King, could beat her opponent,
Bobby Riggs in a tennis match. Against all odds, Billie Jean King was crowned with the victory.
This legendary moment in history was important for the sport of tennis, but also the little girls
everywhere that were not allowed to participate in athletics like their male peers. In light of Title IX ,
an amendment that promoted equality and the prohibition of genderand race discriminationin any
school or Federal funded sport or activity, Billie Jean King became the face of feminismand gender
equality, and can be accredited for her contributions to the advancements for not just women
athletes, but all women. Because of this victory, women athletes became more accepted in
society. Before this match, there was so much chatter about women being weak and brittle and
that they did not size up to their male counterpart. People argued that there was no way a woman
could beat a man in athletics. But after this victory was won, women athletics gained a new kind
of acceptance. Girls everywhere were more interested in playing sports and participating in
athletic activities. Before, little girls would get teased if they showed an interest in athletics, for
example, getting called a tomboy. Now today, it is very common to see male and female teams for
sports in education programs and other recreational leagues. The change in how people viewed
women in sports is very clear, and have come a long way since that tennis match in 1973 and the
introduction of Title IX. It is now much more common to see teams for softball, tennis, and
basketball for girls. But this movement did not stop at sports, during this time, the feminist
movement was still an ongoing fight. Billie Jean King s victory was used as a tool to show that
women deserved equal opportunity in jobs, the home, and society in general. King supported that
women shouldn t have to fight for the same wages or job opportunities amongst their male
counterparts. Her publicity helped bring awareness of these shortcomings, and have massively
changed over the years. The tennis match
Sandra Cisneros Analysis
Sandra Cisneros is an influential, activist poet who is engaged in teaching the Chicano community
and is a strong voice for the Latino community through her writing. Cisneros has a Mexican father
and a Chicana mother which made her part of the two different communities. Cisneros s work is
often influenced by her observations of the people in her communityand her writings include many
different types of communities. In His Story and Woman Hollering Creek communities of women
influence Sandra Cisneros characters. Some of the communities help and others hinder. Overall,
the communities impact each narrator s sense of identity. Cleofilas in Woman Hollering Creek
and Sandra in His Story are influenced by the women they meet or hear about in their
communities. Sandra describes from her father s perspective the status of women in their family.
It is clear her father is upset that his only daughter is unmarried and is the only child of his six
children to leave home. The father predicts the consequences of her behavior by recalling the
female relatives whose lives ended badly because they went against the norms. For instance,/ my
father explains,/ in the Mexican papers/ a girl with both my names/ was arrested for audacious
crimes that began by disobeying fathers (Cisneros, His Story ). The women in the stories are those
who disgraced the family in one way or another. Sandra does not let the stories stifle her ambitions,
even though they were meant to warn her. Just
Fan Identity
One of the main points of discussion is the idea of the fanatic itself and how fandom is an accepted
mode of obsession in the contemporary world. Much of the discourse on the subject deals with the
complex psychology of the word through anthropological and psychoanalytical work on what it
means to be a fanthe mixture of reverence for their object of affection, but also the embarrassment of
being associated with what some might deem as crazy or superficial. The definition of fan has
altered over time, with it becoming increasingly negative. Many fans even shy away from calling
themselves that, or separate their fandomidentity (often found online) with their real life identity.
While much has been written in the beginning of fandom
Anne Michaels s Poem Women On The Beach
The poem I chose was Women on the Beach by Anne Michaels. This poet uses various images of
three women to create the appearance of a sunset. The first line Light chooses white sails , the
bellies of gulls , uses a metaphor to demonstrate how when the light of the sun shines onto the
sails of a boat appears to be white. Michaels compares these sails to a seagulls white belly. In the
4th stanza, Your three bodies form a curving shoreline, demonstrates symbolism the curves of the
women symbolize the curves of the water. The author also connects a women s body and nature as
if they are bonded together as one. In lines 6 7 The beach glows grainy under the sun s copper
/pressure, air the colour of tangerines , In the 6th stanza, she uses imagery
Analysis Of The Movie American Sniper
U.S. Navy SEAL ,Chris Kyle was just the average die hard Texan. He aspired to become a
cowboy, but it wasn t working out in his favor. After seeing the horrors of terrorism on 9/11 he
was ready to fight for his country and enlisted into the military. He goes on to fight in four tours
and becomes the deadliest sniper in American history. After each tour, he felt that he had to go
back. He had two goals that he couldn t give up on; protecting his team and taking out the
deadliest enemy sniper, Mustafa. Chris would not stop until he achieved his goals, when he
finally did, he faced a new battle. He struggled with normal daily life, but even then he persevered
and found a new passion to aid him. Throughout this film, Clint Eastwood portrays the theme of
perseverance through the use of setting, camera angles, and the main character Chris Kyle.
American Sniper is a film that revolves around the life of a Navy SEAL sniper named Chris Kyle.
Chris grew up in an old fashioned southern family and grew up trying to start his career as a
cowboy. After 9/11 that was the last straw for him, so he decided to become a Navy SEAL.
During his training he meets a girl at a bar, at the time it didn t seem too serious to either of them
until they end up getting married. Soon after the wedding Chris was to leave on his first tour to
Afghanistan. Slowly, Chris started to become a legend on the battlefield; all of the foot soldiers
wanted him as their sniper because of how good he was at
Memory Work With Children By Linda Goldman
Memory Work with Children by Linda Goldman (62) Memory work interventions are great to use
with children, since during this time they are starting to form memories. Through memory work
children are able to retell their stories and the stories of others, and are able to create new stories or
recall memories through making meaningful projects (as stated in Neimeyer, 2012). Through this
intervention as Goldman states, a bereaved child constructs the deceased though an ongoing
cognitive process of establishing memories, feelings, and actions appropriate to the child s
developmental level (as stated in Neimeyer, 2012, p. 240). Memorywork is an intervention that will
help children not to forget about the deceased. Memory work can take the form of writing, objects,
albums, picture stories, and memory boxes. Another method that goes along with memory work is
speaking with the client to help him or her process what they have experienced and remember. As
counselor, I would ask questions: what they remember about the deceased person, what their initial
thoughts were, how did they find out about the death, what are some initial reactions to certain
emotions, where was the client when the death occurred, questions that will get the client to start
to think about their loss as well as where they are now mentally in the process (as stated in
Neimeyer, 2012). For children, voicing these answers will help them process the death as well as
show them it is okay to feel this way. By

The US College Enrollment and the Third Law of Demand A theorem proposed by Professors
Alchian and Allen in their text, University Economics (1964) has had several rebirths of interest in
the literature. The so called third law of demand, or relative price theorem, holds that a fixed cost
added to a good of varying quality causes the consumer to prefer the category considered of higher
quality to the lower.
Recently a number of studies, keeping this theorem in mind have looked into a relationship between
the ratio of public to private enrollment and unemployment in cross sectional as well as in time
series data. Part of the full cost of participating in higher education is foregone employment income.

Origin Of Successful Enterprises Can Be Observed Among...
Q5: What kinds of successful enterprises can be observed among China born immigrants in the
GTA, and how can these enterprises be described? The types of effective businesses in the study
that could be observed among China born immigrants in the GTA were skilled, specialized or useful
and functional personal or home related services and businesses. For instances, the practical and
skillful of HAC home services, real estate brokerage, fast printing of Chinese business cards and fast
food advertisings, accounting consulting, dating services, immigration consulting, Chinese
supermarket, and hair salon. These businesses or services in the study were realistic, workable and
valuable to most homes and households or personal applications in GTA. Implication of this finding
was that most of these first generation China born entrepreneurimmigrants enterprises were small
family business or personal skilled trades. They focused on practical and useful home or household
and personal businesses which were tied to the challenges of raising funds for startup. These China
born immigrants were new and first generation immigrants in Canada, and they had no families,
relatives or networks in GTA (Guo, 2013; P. Li Li, 2013). As the first generation immigrant
entrepreneurs with limited networks and resource, China born immigrant entrepreneur raised their
capitalfor startup merely from their personal savings or family loans (Azmat, 2013; Guo, 2013). The

German Unification Of Germany
German unification was a changing aspect in European history because of the fact that Germany was
reliant on their leader Bismarck. Before unification Germany was isolated into thirty nine individual
states, which was united in a procedure that began in 1849 and finished in 1871.The principal
architect of unification was a German statesman, Otto Von Bismarck. Bismarck #39;s main aim was
to unite the
German states into one capable nation and gain control for Prussia. He was beginning to create and
refine his claim political logic, quot;Realpolitik quot;. This was summed up in the statement he
made: quot; The only sound foundation of a great state is state egoism and not romanticism it is
unworthy of a great state to fight for something in which it has no interest. quot; He aimed at making
Prussia the leader of Germany, and
Germany the leading nation of Europe. Therefore, he promised to utilize the strategies for
quot;blood and iron quot; to bring all the German nation together under the Prussian monarchy.
There were three short Prussian wars during the nineteenth century which brought about the
unification of the German states. The war against Denmark (1864), The Austro Prussian War (1866),
and
The Franco Prussian war (1870 1871). The importance of the war against Denmark was that it was
a means of gaining the help of Prussia towards the new army reforms. The war against Austria
brought about the final defeat of liberalism in Germany and the removal of Austria in all German
The Fight Against Poverty Around The World
One of the most important steps in the fight against poverty around the world is the creation of jobs.
The most competitive and successful in this direction is the social entrepreneurship. The task of the
social enterprises is to contribute to the solving of the social problems and promoting of the people s
livelihood. Social enterprises provide jobs for hundreds of thousands of people in the various fields:
food production, marketing, credit, insurance, and transportation. The social enterprises open a
variety of employment opportunities for the people with disabilities, marginalized groups, youth, and
women. In many countries the social enterprises are working closely together with the governmental
organizations, both at national and local level. Today, entrepreneurs and enterprises with social
responsibility around the world receive support from the non profit organizations, foundations,
governments, and individuals. However, despite the fact that the benefits of social entrepreneurship
are clear to many, there are many difficulties with its development. There is still not reached a
consensus on what social enterpriseis and who can be called a social entrepreneur. Some believe that
the term social entrepreneur must refer only to the founding organizations, the main source of
income of which is the payment of their clients. Others believe that the social entrepreneur is one
who performs work on the government contracts, and still others believe the social
