Mid-Term Project (Year 3)
YEAR THREE
TOPIC: HOW DO PLANTS USE WATER?
Make a zig-zag book explaining the journey of water through a flowering plant.
A zig-zag book is like a ‘fold up’ poster. You need to draw, colour (realistic colouring) and write
to explain how water:
is in the soil,
is absorbed by the roots,
moves up the stems,
is used in leaves and flowers.
Start by researching in books and on the internet. Then write and draw diagrams to explain what
happens to water in a plant.
Use arrows to show how the water moves in the plant.
Open the book to watch the poster grow!
NB: Paper size must be A4. Research the dimensions online and cut to size.
a. Supposing each fold of the zig-zag book is $32.00, How much will the four folds be
altogether?
b. I gave Ms. Addo $150 to buy four folds of the zig-zag book, how much will I receive as
change?
