works on the stanza given to you. In your group, discuss the stanza
given to you and write the main idea of the stanza in two or more
sentences. Then collect all the passages and paste them on a chart
paper along with the poem, and Rang the chart in the class.
Ans : Stanza (1) – The poet William Wordsworth wandered from one place to
another like a cloud, which flew over valleys and hills with the flow of wind.
Suddenly the poet sees a large number of blooming daffodils by the side of
the lake and under the trees. The blowing breeze makes these daffodils
dance and flutter with it.
Stanza (2) – In the second stanza the poet compares daffodil’s beauty with
the stars. Just like stars, the daffodils were shining as they were golden colour
and were twinkling as they were fluttering in the breeze. The daffodils are
spreading over a very large area along the margin of a boy. They seemed to
stretch in an endless line.
Stanza (3) – The waves in the lake beside these daffodils are also dancing
with the wind. But in comparison to the daffodils the waves are not as
beautiful and attractive. The poet says that the waves beside them dance, but
they out – did the sparkling waves in glee. The joyful dance of the daffodils
was far better than theirs.
Stanza (4) – In the fourth and final stanza, the poet says that while sitting on
his couch the images of daffodils flash upon his imagination. The image of
daffodils always comes to the mind of the poet whenever the poet is all alone.
