An Analysis Of William Stafford s Traveling Through The Dark
Traveling through the Dark is a poem written by William Stafford. William Stafford was born in
Hutchinson, Kansas in 1914. In 1948, he moved with his wife and four children to Oregon to teach
at Lewis and Clarke College. He published Traveling through the Dark in 1962 and won the very
first book award in 1963. In 1970, Stafford was named the Consultant in Poetryto the Library of
Congress, which is known as the Poet Laureate( William Stafford Archives ). He passed away in
1933from a heart attack. Stafford s biggest influences to his poetry are his parents. He used his
father as a subject in some poems; however, his mother was his biggest influence when it came to
the focus of writing.

Mating season also occurs during November and early December. During these months deer are
known for running across the roads around dawn, dusk, and moonlight. You can usually find deer
around areas that are wooded with forest on either side and large grassy areas. Deer like to eat a
variety of plants, fruit, nuts, fungi, and farm crops. When fawn are first born the first few weeks
they drink milk(Bradford). Deer are also known in many Native American cultures as a symbol
of fertility( Native American Deer Mythology ). All deer are born with antlers, they grow from
supporting structures called pedicles. When they are first born the antlers are covered in nerves
and blood vessels. Once they are adults, they rub it off against trees(Bradford). In Mexican tribes,
deers are associated with traditional spirituality and considered the caretakers of the earth( Native
American Deer Mythology ). William Stafford moved to Oregon in 1948 with his family of four.
The poem Traveling through the dark was published in 1962 and the Wilson River stated in the
poem is located in the Northern Oregon coast. William Stafford taught at Lewis and Clark
College located out in the country side of Oregon, which has backroads and rivers. Stafford was
the narrator of the poem and we can infer that he was heading down one of these roads during a
night after class ended. It was tragic and a compelling story to be
Themes In Things Fall Apart s Things Fall Apart
Things Fall Apart is a

The title Things Fall Apart is foreshadowing many themes in the book. Some of the themes are
about what exactly has fallen apart: his family, his culture, his own morals and way of thinking,
and just his life in general. To elaborate, his family was a mess, to begin with, the father, Unoka. To
some Unoka seems like an outgoing person but in this culture, he was the black sheep of the family.
Unoka to his family and to his culture was very lazy he didn t have any ambition he didn t make a
name for himself at all, in fact, his culture didn t have a title for him because he was so lazy to
them Unoka should have any responsibility for himself or for his family. And because of all of this
Okonkwo didn t think highly of his father he thought that he was a failure just like the rest of his
tribe he never wanted to be like him.

So as you can see the first thing that has fallen apart was Okonkwo s family before he even had a
chance to comprehend why it was falling apart. The next person and his family were his son Nyowe
Although Okonkwo tries to control Nyowe, He tended to be like Okonkwo father. because of this
Okonkwo thought he was lazy and a failure to this is the first way that Nyowe has made Okonkwo s
Family Fall Apart.

Another person who contributes to the family falling apart would be Ezinma. she was the Sun that
Okonkwo never had even though she was a girl. she understood him and because she understood him
she loved him more than his
The Monster In Bram Stoker s Dracula
The most infamous vampire in history emerged from the streets of Ireland in 1897. The publication
of Dracula set the modern vampire into motion. Vampire legends themselves have stretched back for
centuries, but it was this one novel that paved the road for others to follow. When thinking of
Dracula, it can be easy to think of the blood sucking creature who travels from Transylvania. Not
often does history recognize the inspiration for the character known as Count Dracula. The legend
begins in Romania in 1431 with the birth of Vlad III Dracul, or Vlad, Son of The Dragon. This was
the man that grew up to be a hero to Romania, a feared and ruthless leader, an accomplished military
strategist, and the foundations for Bram Stokers novel. Though... Show more content on

Dracula preferred the close quarters of his castle and lived a more lonesome life style. Often his
only ventures outside his castle were to search for food. In the novel, it was apparent that Dracula
did not have many friends and most aquantances were fellow vampires of those under his control.
Vlad surrounded himself by a small circle to whom he would often hunt with. He was cold only
to those who crossed his path the wrong way or threatened the nation to which he ruled. In
recorded text, he had two wives and two sons. Not much is known about his first wife except the
fact that she was from Romania and committed suicide by throwing herself off a wall into the sea.
His second wife, Ilona, bore him two sons ( Vlad The

MarkStrat Simulation Report Analysis

When our team assumed the control, we here given two products SAFE and SAKE in the SONITE
market. The physical characteristics of the two products were already fixed. We were given the task
of managing the two products in the SONITE market and come up with a marketing strategy that
would lead to better performance by the products.

In period 3 the market share was lowest than it had ever been before (19.1%), net contribution
became higher than in the previous years and the stock price index dropped. Looking at the sale
force management, the SAKE brand concentrated most of its sales force on mass merchandise
and the SAFE brand gave more attention to the departmental stores. Seven marketing research
studies were purchased, the base cost for both brands increased than before, more sales persons
were hired and trained than in the previous periods. Following the multidimensional scaling, the
brand performance for SAFE was pretty high on a scale of 16/20. But at the level of convenience
it was poor with a negative scale of 15. The influence of the product characteristics on MDS
dimensions were generally not impressive but the performance for power was very strong,
convenience in terms of design was strong, but the performance of the weight, design and volume
were average. The firm A fell behind other firms in terms competitive advertisement and in spite of
all the investment on marketing research to boost purchase, consumer interest was still not
impressive. For three periods, the SAKE brand was performing a lot better than t SAFE.

Should Schools Display The Ten Commandments
Why don t schools display the ten commandments To many people think that the ten commandments
are out of date, but the ten commandments could help students more than a code of ethics. More and
more schools are removing the ten commandments from their schools. Even though separation of
state and religion is a law, it could be offensive to non christian, and the ten commandmentsare
viewed as out of date. The ten commandments should still be displayed in public government
buildings and in schools. Just because some supreme court decided it illegal to display the ten
commandments in public buildings doesn t mean that he ruling can t be overturned let s look at
some statistics on this subject. So here some statistics taken on february 25 27 of 2005. The
question asked was do you think supreme court should or should not allow the texas state
government to display a monument to the ten commandments? 76% said they should. Here more
statistics taken on february 25 27, 2005. The question was how would you, personally, feel if
there was a monument to the ten commandments on the grounds of your state s capitol building?
56% found it appropriate while 24% did care and only 20% found it inappropriate. There also
some statistics from june 25 27, 1999. The question asked was do you favor or oppose allowing
public schools to display the ten commandments? 74% favored it. So with these statistics why don t
we have the ten commandments posted in public buildings? There are public
How Did The Chinese Alchemists Use Gunpowder
During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, the Chinese developed gunpowder, which made weapons
possible. The creators of this powerful substance were alchemists, who practiced alchemy. Chinese
alchemists had been experimenting with saltpeter because they believed that it would extended life.
They discovered that it could be used to create an explosive powder called gunpowder. The first
weapon the Chinese made with gunpowder was the flamethrower, which used a mixture of
gunpowder and oil. Some other weapons the Chinese created with gunpowder were artillery shell,
which were launched by the catapult. Also, smaller bombs called grenades were thrown by hand.
During the song dynasty, rockets were developed. It used charcoal, saltpeter, and sulfur. The... Show

The first magnets were pieces of lodestone. The Chinese later replaced lodestone with the iron
needle, which was much more accurate than lodestone. They had learned that rubbing a steel needle
with lodestone made the needle magnetic.
By the Song dynasty, the use of the magnetic compass had grown to include the sea voyages. This
enabled sailors to navigate through the sea without any landmark or point in the sky to steer by. It
was also used to tell fortunes. If you opened a business in the right direction, your business will
prosper. This was one of the sets of beliefs known as feng shui.

The Chinese invention of porcelain greatly impacted the economy. Porcelain is made by combining
quartz and feldspar, and then baking in a kiln at very high temperatures. This resulted in a hard,
white material that could be used to make dishes, bowls, etc. They also learnt to paint pictures on
the porcelain and add colorful glazes to it.
Porcelain became a very valuable trade item. The Europeans did not learn how to make it until the
18th century. It had replaced plates of gold and emerald in China. Today, people still refer to
porcelain cookware as

1. The legal issue involved in this case is the piracy of music from various artists that is easily
accesible to everybody from the website called Napster . The moral issue in this case is the music
being stolen according to the music companies or the music was just being borrowed by people all
over the internet according to Napster supporters. The difference between the two is the legal issue
is based on actual evidence like there is a law imposed about this case while the moral issue is based
on strong likelihood or firm conviction. The systematic, corporate issue is about the website
booming and how it affects the music industry while the individual issue is the persons who makes ...

4.Ofcourse, music companies share a moral responsibility for what has happened. The main goal
of this music companies is their profit from the music that they produce but it seems that they
don t see any benefit from this happening. Many people would prefer to spend their money on
something else instead of purchasing pricey music unless they are fans. Fans won t exist if the
artist weren t popular and artists wouldn t be popular if there were no fans. There is no difference
at all for a fan who bought an album of an artist and a fan who downloaded the artist music in the
internet. Both are still fans who made the artist known. Technology like Napster did change the
music industry both in a good way and a bad way. Let s face it, nothing in this world is perfectly
good or perfectly bad. Everything has its own bad and good side. Good because like what I just
said, people who are thrifty or cautious of purchasing music may have a option to download it
and listen to it for free and in this way, it is easily shared to anybody unlike physical albums. Not
everybody visits the music store frequently. It s bad side is it is very accessible to everybody like
some music may contain harsh words which may influence the youth who downloads the music
from the website and also physical album sales
