Assignment-II
Subject- Fundamentals of Measurement and Sensors SEMESTER: 2nd
SESSION: 2024-2028 DEPARTMENT: EE, ECE & CSE

Q1. What happens to the current in a series ohmmeter when the resistance of the unknown
Resistor increases?
Q2. Discuss a method for measurement of low resistance.
Q3. Discuss about an ac bridge used for measurement of capacitance.
Q4. Discuss about a galvanometer which is used for measurement of frequency.
Q5. Derive the equation of balance of a Schering Bridge. Draw the phasor diagram under
Null conditions and explain how loss angle of capacitor can be calculated.
Q6. Describe the theory and method of measurement of low resistance using Kelvin’s double
Bridge. How the effect of thermo-electric EMF is taken into account during
Measurement?
Q7. Draw the circuit of a Wheatstone bridge and derive the conditions of balance.

Q8. Derive the expression for bridge sensitivity for a Wheatstone bridge with equal arms.
Find also the expression for current through the galvanometer for a small unbalance.

Q9. Derive the equations for balance in the case of Maxwell's inductance capacitance
bridge. Draw the phasor diagram for balance conditions.

Q10. In Maxwell's inductance-capacitance bridge the dial of variable capacitor can be

made to read the value of unknown inductance directly. How is it done?

Q11.Describe the working of Hay's bridge for measurement of inductance. Derive the
equations for balance and draw the phasor diagram under conditions of balance. Why is
this bridge suited for measurement of inductance of high Q coils?

Q12. Describe the working of a low voltage Schering bridge. Derive the equations for
capacitance and dissipation factor. Draw the phasor diagram of the bridge under
conditions of balance.
