(Ken Charnley 2010) There are factors that affect an organisations decision and approach in
recruiting and selecting the best candidate for the job.

4.1 Attracting a wider range of applicants

Organisation might need to attract a wider range of applicants using recruitment methods that will
achieve greater results. External Advertsing is used as a selection method. It will help create
awareness of job opportunities in the speciifed field of intrest. Advertising will keep a competetive
edge over competetitors as more advertisments attract best of the job seekers.

4.2 Time .
Organisations might need to fill a position immediately also known as a temporary placement.
Recruitment Agencies have a large pool of suitable candidates.

4.3 Budget and Cost Constraits

Organisations might have budget and cost constraits which mean that they might use alternative and
cheaper selection methods. For example they might use an interview instead of an assessment center.

THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS

Abstract
This paper explores the truth about when a popular athlete such as Tiger Woods makes a mistake or
is even just faced with accusations of a crime these moral clauses are revisited extensively, because
the end results and affects of such a marketing campaign that includes a celebrity endorsement can
be detrimental to a company s image. This is their way of looking for any and every means to
protect themselves.

We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on
whether they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person.
Suggesting that Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession in
virtue of their personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From the
standpoint of employment qualifications, one s sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant
consideration. This brings us to the second consideration concerning punishment in one s
professional life based on actions in one s personal life. We tend to think that there is an
important separation between one s public life and one s private affairs. When one is a celebrity
like Tiger Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one might claim that the loss of this
distinction is the price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an arbitrary constraint on a person
s individual freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public and a private sphere, the fact
that a person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right.
THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS The second ethical question raised by the
Tiger Woods affair scandal concerns whether it is ethical to break a professional contract based on
a person s actions in their personal life. This is a complicated question, and I will limit the
discussion to one pertinent facet of it. If Tiger

There was once a day in my life that was colder than ice cubes and more serious than a broken
heart. July 7,2009, was the day when my whole world would turn upside down. My parents went
from thoughts, to threats, and then to a final decision. This decision was either going to make me or
break me in my upcomming future. This future consited of me living in Florida with my Aunt
Jocelyne for a better path of life and education. I was brought up by strategically strict parents
because of how they were raised by their Haitian traditional parents . In the Haitian culture,
accomplishing an excellent goal is a necessity; the first priority that is truly admired is attending

times for quick naps but during those supposedly naptimes, I was sitting on my chair studying
and reading the latest novel. When my homework was completed, my father would check my
agenda and review every homework question with me. I despised this process and would always
find a way to disobey my parents. I started to become more wild once my teenage years broke out

Cultural And Political Causes Of The Darfur Genocide In Sudan
INTRODUCTION
Genocide is defined as the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural
group. The Darfur Genocide refers to the current mass slaughter and rape of men, women, and
children in Western Sudan (Mitchell Hamline School of Law). Not only are these atrocities
happening, but the Darfurians are being force from their land and into refugee camps, mainly in the
country Chad, but also other countries like Ethiopia or Kenya. Darfur genocide causes can be found
both culturally and politically. The cultural and political causes come from the same source of that
being an underdeveloped country with no effective government protecting the rights of the
Darfurians. Darfurians were violently pushed around, physically and mentally, with the western
world not stepping in to assist. Although eventually, both Britain and the United Nations came to the
same conclusion that the atrocities occurring in Darfur were genocide and one of the world s worst
humanitarian crises (Thomson Reuters). Genocide occurred in Sudan in the Darfur region starting in
2003 and continues today. The long standing divide between Arab herding tribes and the African
farming tribes and the political opportunism arising from the environmental calamity led to the
genocide in Sudan.
CAUSES
a.Political Cause. Politically, Darfur genocide is rooted in the government s role of funding,

reason why many researchers and academicians have continuously emphasized on the importance of
customer satisfaction, loyalty and retention. Customer satisfaction is important because many

Figure 1 Factors that Affect Customer Satisfaction In order to achieve customer satisfaction,
organisations must be able to satisfy their customers needs and wants (La Barbera and Mazursky,
1983). Customers needs state the felt deprivation of a customer (Kotler, 2000). Whereas customers
wants, according to Kotler (2000) refer to the form taken by human needs as they are shaped by
culture and individual personality .

Aaker (1995) said that the strategic dimension for an organisation includes becoming more
competitive through customer satisfaction/brand loyalty, product/service quality, brand/firm
associations, relative cost, new product activity, and manager/employee capability and performance
(Figure 3).

Billy Strayhorn s Impact On The Development Of Jazz
The development of jazz was due to the contributions of many significant musicians that viewed
music differently. Jazz became a popular genre and thus evolved into big band jazz. Duke
Ellington s Orchestra is an example of a big band that depicted the art form of jazz and with the help
of Billy Strayhorn it gained popularity, as well as jazz. Billy Strayhorn s impact on the development
of jazz was through his impact on the Duke EllingtonOrchestra, compositions and arrangements of
jazz songs, and influence on other musicians. To begin with, jazz evolved due to the popularity of
big bands like the Duke Ellington Orchestra that brought this art form to the people in different
places. Duke Ellington was a significant bandleader and musician... Show more content on

Not only did he help Duke Ellington when troubled harmonically or melodically, but he made the
individuals of the big bands sound their best based on their unique qualities. He took in mind what
each individual in a big band must play. Ellington as a bandleader would find the best musicians
based on their uniqueness, which was what inspired him to compose songs. Taking this into
account, Strayhorn had to focus on the full orchestra and had to ...write out the individual
instrumental parts for each member...(Hajd). After several magnificent compositions and
arrangements based on Hajd, he expanded by writing an arrangement for Mary Martin, an actress
and singer. Besides the works Strayhorn did in collaboration with Ellington, his greatest
composition without any Ellington associations was Lush Life. This song was allows the
musicians play it with smoothly because according to Guitarist Mundell Lowe, it is one of the few
songs he knows that requires no improvisation because the line as written cannot be improved
(Sales). Since jazz is a genre that is mostly composed of improvisation, the fact that Lush Life
requires no improvisation depicts not only that it is well composed, but also that it is a unique with
its melodic invention and lyrics. In other words, it is a perfect piece for any musicians or bands to

the devastating AIDS epidemic during the 1980 s. The play takes place in New York City during
the years of 1985 and 1986 and follows two couples Louis Ironson and Prior Walter, and Joe and
Harper Pitt. While the main focus is on these two couples, there are various other characters that
come up throughout the play that hold great significance as well, such as Roy Cohn, Belize, Hannah

portrays the struggles of the 80 s with homosesxuality, the realisation... Show more content on

Marketing Practices Of Abercrombie Co
In 1898, David T. Abercrombie started a small shop in Manhattan called Abercrombie Co. that
sold outdoor camping and hunting gear. One of Abercrombie s regular customers, Ezra Fitch,
purchased a large portion of shares and was named co founder in 1904 consequently,
Abercrombie Co. was renamed as Abercrombie and Fitch Co. (A F) The business thrived, but the
founders decided to part ways as a result of the differences in their vision for the company. A F
wanted to keep the store an outdoors retailer, while Ezra wanted to reposition the store as a general
retailer. In 1907, A F began to send mail order catalogues, a marketing practice that ultimately failed
and placed the company on the brink of bankruptcy; luckily they still managed to turn... Show more

Various religion based groups protested the use of scantily clad teenagers in the catalogues and
ads, claiming it promoted teenage sex. Recently, A F has been facing declining sales for various
reasons. According to Forbe s, Over the past four quarters, the retailer s sales have fallen by an
average of 9% year over year . One of the reasons for this decline is the loss of interest in the
product by the consumers. Many of the company s customers have opted to purchase more
modern and trendy clothing from retailers such as H M, Zara, and Forever 21. These retailers
have adopted a strategy of fast fashion , in which the companies work to get fashion styles similar
to those on the runway on their racks as quickly as possible. Another reason is A F s current CEO,
Michael Jeffries, who caused an uproar over comments he made about the company s image. He
claimed that his clothing was not for everyone. He only envisioned slim, attractive, All American
youth wearing A F. Jeffries said, Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all
American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don t belong [in our clothes],
and they can t belong . These statements caused a lot of the company s consumers to stop purchasing
the products. Lastly, consumers have also complained about the atmosphere of the stores whose

The Pros And Cons Of Plea Bargaining In The United States
Plea Bargaining
In the United States, there are many successful criminal prosecutions that end with jury trials. Many
criminal cases are being resolved through a plea bargaining. This would usually be before a trail.
Plea bargaining is when there is an agreement in a criminal case between the prosecutor and
defendant that typically involves the defendant s to pleading guilty in order to be able to receive a
lesser offenses or sentences. When this agreement is being made it allows for the immediate
resolution of cases where there is little disagreement, or the evidence of guilt is overwhelming.
When a plea Bargain is taken place, it increases efficiency for the courts and able to reduce expense
and time of the defendant.
A defendant would accept a plea bargaining to be able to avoid having a more serious charge, to
have fewer charges being brought against them, or to avoid the expenses and stress of going thought
a trail. When the defendant is plea bargaining it would provide some security because it allows them
to negotiate the terms of sentencings which is under some other circumstances that may remained
mysterious until after the trail is finish.
When a defendant has taken a plea, they are missing out on the opportunity to be found not guilty.
This is happening for multiple reasons even when it s a strong case. Therefore, also when a
defendant takes a plea bargain they are waives many objections and opportunities to inspect or
challenge evidence again the defendant.
Potential Of Microbial Fuel Cells
Potential of Microbial Fuel Cells

A microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a device that converts chemical energy to electrical energy by the
catalytic and metabolic reactions of microorganisms. The microorganisms function as a catalyst in
the electron transfer between the electrodes. A MFC is just like any other fuel cell in its function
which can undergo a half cell reaction. A typical microbial fuel cell consists of anode and cathode
compartments separated by a cation (positively charged ion) permitting specific membrane. At the
anode, the organic matter or substrate is oxidized by microorganisms, generating CO2, electrons and
protons. Electrons are transferred to the cathode through an external electric circuit, while protons
are transferred to the cathode through the membrane. Electrons and protons react in the cathode,
combining with oxygen to form water.

A simple REDOX reaction takes place in the fuel cell. The rate of the reactions can depend on the
internal resistance, bacteria, substrate, semi permeable membrane and electrode configuration. The
basic reactions that occur when microorganisms consume a substrate such as sugar in the presence
of O2 they produce CO2 and H2O. But, when oxygen is not present they produce CO2, H+ and e .
At Anode,
C12H22O11 +13H2O → 12CO2 + 48H+ + 48e−
At Cathode,
O2 + 4e− + 4H+ → 2H2O
The applications of MFC s are that, they can be used for electricity generation, bio hydrogen
production, wastewater treatment and bioremediation. While
Barium Chloride Dihydrate
In conclusion to the first portion of the experiment, which included the continuous heating and
cooling of a 1.5 gram sample of barium chloride dihydrate, the litmus paper tested indicated that
there was no release of acidic vapors during the separating of the water and compound bonds. In
other words, the chemical equation BaCl2 + 2H2O (s) BaCl2 + 2H2O (g), labeled as 5.3 in the
original lab report, is best used to describe the transition which took place during this portion of the
lab.
The second procedure called for us to heat a number of other hydrates and test their vapors for any
evidence of acid just as we had done in the previous experimental procedure. The results for the
heating of each individual hydrate posed a different conclusion
Health Information Systems And Systems
To successfully implement health information systems, it is important that the health care
organizations have access to appropriate IT staff and resources to support the new systems and
system users. IT staff perform several common functions and have several common roles. In large
organizations, the IT department often has a management team comprising the chief information
officer, chief technology officer, chief security officer, and chief medical information officer, who
provide leadership to ensure that the organization fulfills its IT strategies and goals (Wager, Lee,
Glaser, 2010, p. 434). Health information systems leaders understand that predicting gaps and
promoting parities in an effort to reduce data security risks, costs, and liabilities can only lead to
long term profitability. The aims of this paper are to discuss five health information system s leaders
and their roles; to examine the stake holders health information systems implementation; to analyze
the limitations and opportunities in health information systems data analysis, to explain what the
literature suggests; and to summarize the impact of predicting gaps and parities on quality
improvement as it relates to the situation of my final proposal/project. List five health information
systems leaders, and define their roles. Chief Information Officer (CIO) CIO is the one who manages
the Information Technology department and an executive who can successfully lead the
organization in its effort to
Effects Of Mass Incarceration In The New Jim Crow
Introduction The United States is a divided country due to the injustice society and unequal rights
many African Americans still suffer through mass incarceration. The novel, The New Jim Crow:
Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness , focuses on the current problem of mass
incarceration that many people are not accepting of or pretend to be blind to. Due to the election
of President Barrack Obama, there was no longer an effort made towards the mass incarceration
although it is still occurring. Michelle Alexander, the author of the novel, believes that Barrack
Obama s presidential victory was a distraction from the severity of mass incarceration. Michelle
Alexander hopes this novel will shed light upon those who are not aware of the problem of mass
incarceration, as well as to offer support to those currently incarcerated.
Background
The epidemic regarding racism is still an ongoing issue dating back to the colonial period when
African Americans were sold to owners as cheap labor which resulted in the beginning of slavery.
African Americans were placed at the bottom of the racial caste system which was eventually
replaced by Jim Crow. Jim Crow may have replaced the word slavery but was very similar as
blacks were still being sold, owned and suppressed. The fact that some African Americans have
experienced great success in recent years does not mean that something akin to a racial caste system
no longer exists (Alexander, M. p.21, 2012). For example, during the
Exponential Growth
Ray Kurzweil discusses the rate of technology will no longer be linear, it will now follow an
exponential growth rate. He explains that the exponential growth will continue to accelerate at a
fast pace than we can ever think of. Although it will not reach infinity it is still fast enough to
make an impact on our world. Though progression will be slow at first it will eventually take off.
It will be thousands of year of progress made in a matter of decades. Ray Kurzweil comes up with
the law of accelerating returns to explain the exponential growth rate. He talks about a number of
things, the first being that progress comes from the work of the evolutionary stage. It is the work
at this stage that allow us to continue forward. Secondly, this exponential growth will lead to an
increase in returns. This exponential growth will lead to more effort and resources put toward the
future progress, leading the exponential growth rate to grow even more. Lastly, Kurzweil believes
that the biological and technological fields will go through this evolutionary process that will
indeed lead to an exponential growth rate. Kurzweil later in his essays discusses the law of
accelerating returns will decrease the size of technologybut increase their potential. Kurzweil
