After School Program Plan

Step One Get Approved by the Governance Board The first step to getting an after school program here at Kornerstone will be having the idea of staying open until 6:00pm. approved by the governance board. After that is done we can begin to have the school open until 6:00pm and we will then be able to slowly progress and have more meeting with the board about leaving the school open later, and later.

Step Two After School Program 1 day until 6:00pm

Tuesday: Math Help From 4:00pm. - 5:00pm: In math help you will be working with multiple students and helping them through math problems they encounter on Aleks. Requirements: -Passed Calculus -Is able to work independently with kids -Is able to present themselves in professional manner Study Hall From 4:00pm. - 5:00pm: In study hall you will be walking around supervising students as they work on homework or there individual projects. The volunteer will also be giving feedback to students as they share there projects with you or need help. Requirements: -Is able work with independent students -Is able to give good feedback -Is able to present themselves in professional manner

Study Hall From 5:00pm. - 6:00pm: In study hall you will be walking around supervising students as they work on homework or there individual projects. The volunteer will also be giving feedback to students as they share there projects with you or need help. Requirements: -Is able work with independent students -Is able to give good feedback -Is able to present themselves in professional manner

Yearbook Club From 4:00pm. - 5:00pm: In yearbook club the volunteer will run the club and direct students and teach them how to create a yearbook. Requirements: -Design Skills -Experience with making yearbooks

-Has a minor in art -Is able to present themselves in professional manner Writers Workshop from 5:00pm. - 6:00pm: In writers workshop the volunteer will teach students writing strategies and give feedback to the students about the writing they are working on. Requirements: -Has minor in English -Has a teaching degree -Is able to work independently with kids -Is able to present themselves in professional manner Cooking Club 5:00pm. - 6:00pm: In cooking club you will be asked to supervise the students and teach them how to make different recipes. Requirements: -Experience with baking -Can follow a recipe -Is able to present themselves in professional manner

Step Three After School Program 2 days until 8:00pm The third step is to have Kornerstone open until 8:00pm. on both Tuesday, and Thursday. This will allow us to be able to expand how long Kornerstone will be open for without taking on to much that we can't handle, which is another reason the second floor will still be closed. We will have to hire two more volunteers. Each volunteer will work for 1 hour on both Tuesday and Thursday

Tuesday & Thursday:

Study Hall From 7:00pm. - 8:00pm: In study hall you will be walking around supervising students as they work on homework or there individual projects. The volunteer will also be giving feedback to students as they share there projects with you or need help. Requirements: -Is able work with independent students -Is able to give good feedback -Is able to present themselves in professional manner I.T. From 7:00pm. - 8:00pm: In I.T. you will be working with passionate students about the I.T. Department at this school. Requirements: -Is able to work with technology -Is able to trouble shoot -Can lead a group -Can give constructive criticism -Is able to present themselves in professional manner

Step Four After School Program 2 days until 8:00pm plus supper The fourth step is to offer supper here at Kornerstone. The goal is to offer supper for $2.50 here that we can offer to the community twice a week. To do this we will need two more volunteers that will be able to make the supper and distribute it. Each volunteer will work on both Tuesday and Thursday

Step Five After School Program 3 days until 9:00pm The fifth step is to have Kornerstone open until 9:00pm. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday doing this this will allow us to be able to expand how long Kornerstone is open for and will help us take that next step into a full after school program five days a week. We will now have the upstairs open which means we will need more volunteers. We will have to hire 12 more volunteers to help run the after school program. Each volunteer works for 1 hour either on both Tuesday and Thursday or just Monday.

Step Six After School Program 4 days until 10:00pm The sixth step to having a after school program here at Kornerstone is to also be open on Fridays. By doing this we are slowly working our way to opening the school

Monday through Friday. Each volunteer works for 1 hour either on both Tuesday and Thursday or Monday, and Friday so we will have to hire four more volunteers.

Step Seven After School Program 5 days until 11:00pm The sixth step to having a after school program here all done and ready to go. We will need to hire 16 more volunteers, and then the after school program is complete all our hard work has now paid off each volunteer will work for 1 hour on Monday & Friday, Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday.
