(EXPLORE) Yes Noribell, thank you for raising your hand! Ma’am I think our lesson for today is all
about research

Yes, you are right! Good Job! Let’s give her a clap!

Today, we will distinguish technical terms used in

research

First, let’s discuss what is research?

Kindly ready the definition class

Definition:
Research (noun), according to Merriam
Dictionary, is the collecting of
information about a particular subject.
Research establishes facts and new
findings through a systematic
investigation.

When we say “systematic” it is done or acting

according to a fixed plan or system. There is an
order or pattern that you have to follow.

Now, let’s discuss different technical terms used in

research. One of those are already mentioned in our
previous activities.
But first, I want you to complete the letters and form
a word. I will give the definition that will serve as
your clue.

1. A_ _ _ _ _ _ T

Kindly ready the definition class

Definition: A brief overview of a
research study
What do you think it is, class?

Yes, Arren?
I think its ABSTRACT ma’am

Yes, very good!

In writing introduction, you have to…

Please, read class!

✔️Summarize current understanding
and background information about the
topic

✔️State the purpose of the work in the

form of the research problem supported
by the hypothesis or a set of questions.

✔️Explain briefly the methodological

approach used to examine the research
problem.
✔️Highlight the potential outcomes your
study can reveal

Next term…

3.L _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ E R _ _ _ _ W

Kindly ready the definition class

Definition: A statement summarizes
existing research on a topic, highlighting
key findings, themes, and gaps to
establish a foundation for further study.

Who wants to answer?

Can you still follow class?

Yes, ma’am!
Do you have any questions?
None, ma’am
So what are the three terms we already discuss?

4. H_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ S

Kindly ready the definition class

Definition: A statement of expectation
or prediction that will be tested by
research. Commonly known as the
researcher’s intellectual guess or wild
Who wants to answer? guess about the possible result of the
study.
Yes, Johny Lyne?

Example: I think it’s HYPOTHESIS ma’am

Can you guess a “cause and effect” scenario base

of the picture?

Anyone?
Yes, Jay Ann? Ma’am “The student slept earlier that’s
why he has the energy to go to school
and study well”

Thank you, nice trying!

So, the hypothesis we can draw to from the picture

is…
“Quality of sleep affects academic performance”

This is the intellectual guess of the researcher. He is

predicting or assuming that the quality of sleep,
whether the person sleeps longer or not, affects the
academic performance of the students. This kind of
hypothesis will be tested that’s why researchers
conduct study.

Next term…

5. M _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Y

Kindly ready the definition class

Definition: The systematic method to

resolve research through data gathering
using various techniques, providing an
interpretation of data gathered, and

I think it’s METHODOLOGY ma’am

Very Good!

AIM: To ensure valid and reliable results that

address the research aims and objectives.

It is where the researcher will decide:

- Who to collect it from (in research, this is
called “Sampling design”)

Next term…

6.P _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ N

Kindly ready the definition class
