Network Activity 4 Static MAC Address

STATIC CONFIGURATION MAC

Although Cisco switches dynamically build the MAC address table by using the MAC
source address of the received frames, you can also specify a static address to add
to the MAC address table. The static MAC entries are retained even if the switch is
restarted.
To configure a static MAC address, the following command is used:
For example, the following set of commands will assign the MAC address of
1111.1111.1111 permanently to the interface Fa0/2, VLAN 1:
To verify the configuration, we can use the show mac address table command:

Configure the switch Device:


1. Configure the hostname, access, and command mode passwords, as well as
the management LAN setting: Hostname: MySwitch,

2. Configure the hosts to use the same IP subnet for the address, mask, and the default gateway on
Static: 192.168.1.1

ADDRESS the cmd command is ipconfig /all Get all the PHYSICAL ADDRESS every PC
7. Type following Command in CLI to configure static configuration for every port
connected to all PC’s
