➢ Understand the fundamental architecture and operation of the 8085 microprocessor.
➢ Learn the instruction set of the 8085 microprocessor and develop assembly language programs

UNIT 1 INTRODUCTION TO 8085 MICROPROCESSOR 9 Hrs


Architecture of 8085 microprocessor - Pin details of 8085 – Instruction cycle – machine cycle –
T-state -Timing diagrams for Op-code Fetch Cycle Memory Read, Memory Write, I/O Read,
I/O Write -Interrupts and its types.

UNIT 2 INSTRUCTION SET OF 8085 9 Hrs


Data transfer-Arithmetic-Logical-Branching-Machine control- Addressing modes- Stack –
Subroutine - Time delay using register and register pair.
Coding: Addition and Subtraction(8-bit and 16-bit), Multiplication, Division, Largest, Smallest,
Block transfer, Ascending order and Descending order (all8-bit data), Binary to BCD, BCD to
Binary, Binary to ASCII, ASCII to Binary, BCD to ASCII, ASCII to BCD (all 8-bit data)

UNIT 3 PERIPHERAL DEVICES 9 Hrs


Programmable peripheral interface (Intel 8255), Programmable timer / counter
(Intel 8253/8254), programmable Keyboard and Display Interface (Intel 8279)

UNIT 4 9 Hrs
Microprocessor Applications: Analog to Digital Converter(ADC)-Digital to Analog converter
(DAC) - Stepper Motor - Traffic light controller - Temperature controller.

UNIT 5 INTRODUCTION TO 8086 AND ITS APPLICATIONS 9 Hrs


Introduction to 8086 -Architecture – Block diagram – The Bus Interface Unit- Instruction
Queue- Execution unit- Registers: Data Register, Segment Register, Pointer Register, Index
register, Flag Register - 8086 Pin details - Addressing Modes: Direct addressing, Register
indirect addressing, Based addressing, Indexed addressing, Based Indexed addressing,, Based
Indexed with displacement addressing, String addressing, Branch addressing
