❖ TYPE OF THERAPY:
Cognitive Therapy
❖ DEFINITION: Cognitive therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps patients identify and modify dysfunctional
thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors, often used to enhance memory, problem-solving, coordination, and attention
❖ GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
• To enhance the cognitive functioning of elderly patients through engaging, interactive activities.
• To stimulate attention, memory, and problem-solving skills.
• To promote social interaction and cooperation among participants.
❖ LEARNING OUTCOME:
• By the end of the activity, participants will demonstrate improved focus, coordination, and teamwork, with increased
engagement and responsiveness during cognitive exercises.
❖ PURPOSE:
To enhance concentration, hand-eye coordination, and group cooperation among elderly participants, supporting cognitive and
physical rehabilitation.
❖ MATERIALS NEEDED:
• Round cardboard tray with a central hole
• Small plastic balls (ping pong balls)
• Foam handles (for holding strings)
• Basket (to catch the balls)
❖ METHOD/ PROCEDURE:
❖ 1. Arrange chairs in a circle and have each participant hold one foam handle connected to the suspended tray.
❖ 2. Place several balls on the tray.
❖ 3. Participants must work together to balance the tray and guide a ball into the central hole, allowing it to drop into the
basket below.
❖ 4. Repeat the activity with different ball colors or change the difficulty by adjusting the tray height or ball quantity.
❖ 5. Encourage verbal communication and teamwork.
❖ PATIENT’S OUTCOME:
• Participants showed improved concentration and coordination. They were actively engaged, communicated effectively, and
expressed enjoyment and satisfaction with the group activity.
