2) Calculate the work done in moving a charge of 4 C from a point of 220 volts to anther point
at 230 volts
3) If 3 x 10-3 J of work is done in moving a particle carrying a charge of 15 x 10-6 C from
Infinity to a point P, what will be the potential at the point P?
4) Name a device used to measure current in a circuit How is it connected in a circuit?
5) Name a device used to measure potential difference in a circuit How is it connected in a
circuit?
6) What is the resistance of an ideal ammeter?
7) Draw the symbols for the following :
i) Rheostat ii) Ammeter iii) Closed Key iv) Resistance
8) One billion electrons pass from a point A to B in a conductor in 10 -4 seconds. What is the
magnitude and direction of current?
9) The potential difference between the terminals of an electric iron is 240 volts and the current
is 5 A. What is the resistance of electric iron?
10) A resistance of 15 ohms has a current of 5 amp flowing in it. What potential difference is
there between its ends?
11) Name a device that helps to maintain a potential difference across a conductor.
12) Define 1 volt. Express it in terms of SI unit of work and charge calculate the amount of
energy consumed in carrying a charge of 1 coulomb through a battery of 3 V.

EXPLORERS

1) Geyser draws a a current of 15 A from the main line for half an hour to heat water. Calculate
the amount of charge that flows through the filament.
2) A bulb is rated at 5volt, 100 mA. Calculate its resistance.
3) How many electrons are there in 10 C of charge?
4) The potential difference between the terminals of an electric heater is 60 V when it draws a
current of 4 A from the source. What current will the heater draw if the potential difference
is increased to 120 V?
5) In an experiment to verify Ohms Law, the current through a resistor and the potential
difference across it are measured. From the values given below, plot a graph I versus V.
Show that the data confirms Ohms law and find the resistance of the resistor.

Current (A) 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.4

Potential 1.2 2.4 3.6 4.8
