product that will excite any architect / designer.

COMPETITIVE PRICE
Sapphire partition frames can be used with standard drywall. Plasterboard, steel stud frames, glass and doors can be
sourced locally. This ensures that Sapphire partitions are very price competitive.

Sapphire strives to deliver all standard sections within two to three weeks regardless of finish.
(Note : for export markets customs procedures may delay delivery in some countries). Sapphire will ensure that challenging

SPEEDY I N S TA L L AT I O N
Sapphire aluminium is prefinished so that no touch up is required after installation. All necessary accessories are supplied
as part of the system. Aluminium is light and easy to cut on site. Snap together profiles reduce construction and on site
labour costs.

EXCITING ANODISED FINISHES

Sapphire partition frames are constructed with anodised aluminium profiles. We have an outstanding range of anodised
colours that can be used to compliment any design. Anodising helps you comply with the requirments of the BCA ensuring
required differences in LRV.

Anodising is the most durable and beautiful finish that can be applied to aluminium as it highlights and enhances the
natural characteristics of aluminium.

BEING GREEN
When you specify/purchase Sapphire partitions you are taking care of the environment as our products are made from
recycled and primary aluminium. When combined with an anodised finish you have a product that is 100% recyclable and
free of harmful VOC’s.

CODE OF AUSTRALIA (BCA)

SAPPHIRE PARTITION SYSTEMS AND THE BUILDING CODE OF AUSTRALIA (BCA)

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) is the national technical document containing technical provisions for the design and
construction of buildings and other structures. The BCA references specific Australian Standards that set out particular
procedures and requirements that must be followed.
The relevant standards for partition installations are:
AS1288-2006 Glass in Buildings, Selection and Installation
AS1428.1-2009 Design for Access and Mobility
Sapphire Aluminium is mindful of the requirements and offers products and finishes which can assist designers,
specifiers and contractors to develop design solutions which comply with the code.
The BCA references a number of design considerations in relation to vision impairment which need to be considered
when designing partition installations and selecting finishes. These include:-

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS FOR AS1288-2006

Glass must have a minimum of 8mm edge cover on all sides with in a frame
Full height is a minimum of 10.38mm laminated glass (maximum span of 2.8 metres, Above this height you must use 15mm
or introduce a transom genrally at 2.4 metres)
Unframed Glazing (Silicon Joints) maximum area of 9m2 for 10.38mm and no limit for 12.38mm

LUMINANCE CONTRAST OF BUILDING ELEMENTS.

Luminance contrast is defined in AS1428.1 2009 as ’the light reflected from a component, compared to the light reflected
from another surface or component’. It is not simply the colour contrast but the difference in the light reflective properties
of each colour. Sapphire lists all LRV readings for its anodised finishes on its website.

To Calculate Luminance Contrast use the following

C = luminance contrast
Y1 + Y2 = luminous reflectance values of the two surfaces
C = 125 (Y2-Y1) / (Y1+Y2+25) Bowman-Sapolinski equation

Pol Bright Tangerine - PB6673 =52% LRV | Matt Kalamata M669 = 25% LRV
Therefore, C = 125(52-25) / (52+25+25)
C = 125(27)/102
C = 33% Contrast

DOORWAYS, DOORS AND CIRCULATION SPACE AT DOORWAYS

All doorways shall have a minimum luminance contrast of 30% provided between—
(a) door leaf and door jamb;
(b) door leaf and adjacent wall;
(c)architrave and wall;
(d) door leaf and architrave; or
(e) door jamb and adjacent wall.

The minimum width of the area of luminance contrast shall be 50mm. Consideration should also be given in design to
when a door is open in order to comply with AS1428.1-2009.

Compliance can be achieved by selection of appropriate finishes including those for aluminium sections and frames
which should have a viewed minimum width of a 50mm. Sapphires partition suites including Microline, Wideline, Frontline,
Maxline 76, Maxline 92 and Sapphire Aluminium Door all include options and sections which can be specified to meet these
requirements.

If an anodised finish is to be specified, compliance can be achieved by selection of an appropriately dimensioned frame
coupled with a colour that satisfies the luminance contrast requirements when compared to adjacent wall or door
finishes. To this end we provide Luminance Contrast Values for all our finishes and these can be found in our on line
finishes library.

DID YOU KNOW?

- Sound reduction will improve with increased glass thickness due to the greater mass involved;
- Sound reduction will decrease somewhat with increasingly larger glass areas but not enough to make much difference in
the majority of architectural glass sizes;
- Sound reduction will improve with the use of laminated glass due to the vibration dampening effect of the PVB interlayer.
Laminated glass is particularly effective for interior partitions as it reduces the ‘coincidence dip’ attributed to monolithic
glass in the 1000 - 2000Hz range, a range attributed to the human voice. The optimum PVB interlayer thickness for sound
reducing laminated glass is 1.14mm but 0.38mm will generally suffice. Multi-laminates combine the mass effect of solid
glass with the dampening effect of the interlayer for superior sound reduction;
- Sound reduction will improve with the use of glass/airspace combinations, but the performance is critically dependent
upon the width of the airspace. Sapphire Frontline Suite will give excellent results in normal situations for premium
performance refer to Sapphire’s 92mm maxline double glazed option or maximum spacing of 300mm can be acheived with
Sapphire’s Microline framing.

WHAT IS STL & STC?

There are two fundamental considerations that come into play when measuring the reduction of sound through windows
and selecting a glass for sound insulation:
· Sound Transmission Loss (STL) - indicates the effectiveness of a window or wall in reducing exterior sounds. In determining
the ability of a window or wall in reducing outdoor sounds such as traffic noises, engineers usually figure STL in the
frequency ranges of 100 - 150Hz (UK) or 125 - 4000Hz (USA). The STL is measured in decibels(dB) and thus the greater the STL
value the better the glazing is for reducing sound;
· Sound Transmission Class (STC) - indicates the reduction of sound provided by an interior wall. This rating applies to
interior partitions, walls, ceilings and floors, but not to exterior walls. In terms of glass this means office partitions, viewing
windows for radio/TV stations and similar applications. The STC value is a number rating that is designed to correlate the
effectiveness of sound insulation of elements against sounds normally sourced inside buildings (i.e, speech, typewriters).
Before exploring the sound reduction capabilities of glass it is important to establish the fact that the best sound reducing
glass cannot do its job if air leaks or cracks allow sound to travel around or through the glass.

WHAT IS COINCIDENCE DIP?

This occurs where the panel vibrates in unison with the frequency of the sound. The result is that the sound insulation
values of the glass panel are reduced at that specific frequency. The frequency at which the ‘dip’ occurs varies with the
thickness and the stiffness of the glass. The thicker and stiffer the glass, the lower the frequency at which the ‘dip’ occurs.
Where specific frequencies are targeted for noise reduction, an anaylsis of where the frequency ‘dip’ occurs for the glass
type under consideration is important.

ACOUSTIC TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Rw Weighted Sound Reduction Index

Rw describes the airborne sound insulating power of a building element. It is a laboratory measured value. It can apply to
walls, ceiling/floors, ceiling/roofs, doors, or windows. The higher the number, the greater the sound insulating power of the
building element.
For example, an increase in the Rw of a wall by 10 points will reduce the perceived loudness of sound passing through the
wall by about half. Table 1 shows how the sound insulating effectiveness of walls depends on their Rw or Rw + Ctr values.

Rw + Ctr Rw plus Spectrum Adaptation Term

Rw + Ctr is equal to Rw with the addition of a low frequency sound correction, Ctr. The use of Rw + Ctr has become more
relevant due to the increase in low frequency sound sources such as surround sound systems, traffic and aircraft noise,
drums and bass guitars.
Two walls can have the same Rw rating, but have different resistance to low frequency sound, thus a different Rw + Ctr.
DnTw and DnTw + Ctr Measured on-site
These values are the equivalent of Rw and Rw + Ctr, but measured on-site. Rw is the value measured in an acoustic
laboratory, while DnTw is measured on-site.
An on-site measured value of DnTw + Ctr is permitted to be 5 points lower than the Rw + Ctr value. Where the BCA may call for
an Rw + Ctr e” 50, the same requirement may be satisfied by measuring DnTw + Ctr e” 45 on-site.

The Sapphire Microline Suite is primarily used for framing glass. It is a suite that can be adapted to a variety of uses such as
double glazing and can be combined with Sapphire’s other suites.

SPECIFICATION
The Sapphire Microline® Suite of sections have been developed with over 25 years of experience in supply of suites to the
partition industry and is designed to meet the relevant glazing codes and construction codes for internal framing, however
fabricators of aluminium frames should seek certification by a consultant engineer as to the framing being acceptable for
the local design impact safety and deflection characteristics required of the site. Detailed calculations should be provided
with final drawings of the aluminium frames.

ALLOY
The Sapphire Microline® Suite is extruded from primary billet only (No remelt) 6060T5 alloy ensuring that it is of the highest
quality suitable for anodising finishes and maintaining colour uniformity from batch to batch.

ALUMINIUM
Partition suite to be Microline® by Sapphire Aluminium Pty Ltd(not “equal or equivalent”-see note below*)provided with the
specified finish detailed in the finishes schedule and installed in accordance with the project design detail and relevant
building codes.”

STANDARD FRAME - 25mm

The maximum clearspan panel height without a transom shall be 2700mm.

LARGE FRAME - 50mm

The maximum clearspan panel height with a transom positioned between 1000mm - 2800mm in height shall be 3600mm.

HARDWARE
Glazing wedges shall be Sapphire’s colour coded wedges for Microline® Partition Suite
to suit standard glazing options.
Hinges shall be as per Sapphire Technical Manual.
All other hardware as per Sapphire Technical Manual.

FINISHES
All anodised material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS1231
All powder coated material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS3715

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Sapphire Microline® Partition Suite should only ever need to be washed down with warm water and a mild detergent by
rubbing with a soft cloth
Ensure that the cloth is rinsed well with fresh water to remove any detergent residue.

WARNING!
Strong detergents and abrasive cleaners should never be used to clean the Sapphire Microline® Partition Suite as it may cause
scratching or damage to the coated surface.

CARE & MAINTENENCE

SPECIFICATION
The Sapphire Microline® 80 Suite of sections have been developed with over 30 years of experience in supply of suites to the
partition industry and is designed to meet the relevant glazing codes and construction codes for internal framing, however
fabricators of aluminium frames should seek certification by a consultant engineer as to the framing being acceptable for
the local design impact safety and deflection characteristics required of the site. Detailed calculations should be provided
with final drawings of the aluminium frames.

ALLOY
The Sapphire Microline® 80 Suite is extruded from primary billet only (No remelt or scrap) 6060T5 alloy ensuring that it is of
the highest quality suitable for anodising finishes and maintaining colour uniformity from batch to batch.

ALUMINIUM
Partition suite to be Microline® 80 Suite by Sapphire Aluminium Pty Ltd(not “equal or equivalent”-see note below*)provided
with the specified finish detailed in the finishes schedule and installed in accordance with the project design detail and
relevant building codes.”

The maximum panel height with a transom positioned between 1000mm - 2800mm in height shall be 3600mm.

HARDWARE
Glazing wedges shall be Sapphire’s colour coded wedges for Microline® 80 Suite
to suit standard glazing options.
Hinges shall be as per Sapphire Technical Manual.
All other hardware as per Sapphire Technical Manual.

FINISHES
All anodised material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS1231
All powder coated material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS3715

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Sapphire Microline® 80 Suite should only ever need to be washed down with warm water and a mild detergent by rubbing
with a soft cloth
Ensure that the cloth is rinsed well with fresh water to remove any detergent residue.

Strong detergents and abrasive cleaners should never be used to clean the Sapphire Microline® 80 Suite as it may cause
scratching or damage to the coated surface.

S U I T E S P E C I F I C AT I O N

SPECIFICATION
The Sapphire Microline® 120 Suite of sections have been developed with over 25 years of experience in supply of suites to
the partition industry and is designed to meet the relevant glazing codes and construction codes for internal framing,
however fabricators of aluminium frames should seek certification by a consultant engineer as to the framing being
acceptable for the local design impact safety and deflection characteristics required of the site. Detailed calculations
should be provided with final drawings of the aluminium frames.

ALLOY
The Sapphire Microline® 120 Suite is extruded from primary billet only (No remelt) 6060T5 alloy in Australia ensuring that it
is of the highest quality suitable for anodising finishes and maintaining colour uniformity from batch to batch.

ALUMINIUM
Partition suite to be Microline® 120 by Sapphire Aluminium Pty Ltd(not “equal or equivalent”-see note below*)provided with
the specified finish detailed in the finishes schedule and installed in accordance with the project design detail and
relevant building codes.”

The maximum clearspan panel height with a transom positioned between 1000mm - 2800mm in height shall be 3600mm.

HARDWARE
Glazing wedges shall be Sapphire’s colour coded wedges for Microline® Partition Suite
to suit standard glazing options.
Hinges shall be as per Sapphire Technical Manual.
All other hardware as per Sapphire Technical Manual.

FINISHES
All anodised material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS1231
All powder coated material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS3715

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Sapphire Microline® 120 Partition Suite should only ever need to be washed down with warm water and a mild detergent by
rubbing with a soft cloth
Ensure that the cloth is rinsed well with fresh water to remove any detergent residue.

 SHOOSHLINE SUITE OVERVIEW

INTRODUCTION
Sapphire’s Shooshline Door Suite provides for aluminium framed glass hinged, sliding doors and pivot for entrys or office
fronts. The doors can be single or multiple panel mounted and can be finished to match Sapphire’s other Partition Suites
with the added benefit if being able to glaze upto 14.5mm glass and built in seals for increased acoustics.

FRAME OPTIONS
THIN - 50mm (w) x 45mm, accepts mortice locks with Midrail or backplate option
STANDARD - 75mm (w) x 45mm, accepts shallow backset mortice locks
LARGE - 115mm (w) x 45mm, accepts deep backset mortice locks

GLAZING OPTIONS
Single glazed 6mm - 14.5mm as per AS1288-2006

CARE & MAINTENENCE

SPECIFICATION
The Sapphire Shooshline Suite of sections have been developed with over 25 years of experience in supply of suites to the
partition industry and is designed to meet the relevant glazing codes and construction codes for internal framing, however
fabricators of aluminium frames should seek certification by a consultant engineer as to the framing being acceptable for
the local design impact safety and deflection characteristics required of the site. Detailed calculations should be provided
with final drawings of the aluminium frames.

ALLOY
The Sapphire Shooshline Suite is extruded from primary billet only (No remelt) 6060T5 alloy ensuring that it is of the highest
quality suitable for anodising finishes and maintaining colour uniformity from batch to batch.

ALUMINIUM
Doors to be Shooshline Suite by Sapphire Aluminium Pty Ltd(not “equal or equivalent”-see note below*)provided with the
specified finish detailed in the finishes schedule and installed in accordance with the project design detail and relevant
building codes.”
Sapphire Shooshline Door is available with 50mm, 75mm or 115mm wide stiles and a range of mid-rail options for single
glazed doors.

HARDWARE
- Glazing wedges shall be Sapphire’s wedges for Sapphire’s Aluminium Partition Door to suit standard glazing options.
- All other hardware as per SapphireTechnical Manual.

FINISHES
- All anodised material shall be produced by Sapphire to AS1231
- All powder coated material shall be produced by Sapphireto AS3715

CARE & MAINTENENCE

Sapphire Shooshline Suite should only ever need to be washed down with warm water and a mild detergent by rubbing with
a soft cloth
Ensure that the cloth is rinsed well with fresh water to remove any detergent residue.

SAP484 is designed to be used as a floor track for sliding doors. At 8mm (or 10mm when used with
SAP484/B) in height is easily compatible with carpet tiles and 60mm wide lines up with SAP482 for multiple sliding doors
side by side.
SAP484 may simply be placed over SAP484/B and use the weight of the door to hold it in place or can be fixed by way of
countersunk fixings to the face on either side of the roller or placed over SAP484/B and may also be held in place with
double sided tape.
SAP484 will accept SAP525/5256 fitted with SSABTR
SAP484 is available in 3.6 & 5.6 metre lengths.
PLEASE NOTE !
Due to this section being a high traffick wearing item it should always be specified in a 25 micron (AA25) Anodised Finish.

This skirting has sleek modern profile with a 3mm rebate and features a groove in the bottom for option of fitting
seal for uneven floors. It can also use our joining stake SPACS6. The skirting is also 5mm thick which matches the return on
all Sapphire framing section creating a neat flush junction.
SAP50X5S will accept SSADS12, 13, 14 bottom seal for uneven floors.
SAP50X5S will accept corner/end cap SPACS7 & 8 joining stakes to the rear.
SAP50X5S is available in 3.6 metre lengths.

This is the most popular size in our range of skirtings. Most commonly used where minimum ceiling heights exist.
SAP009 is fitted after walls have been completed and decorated allowing for ease and speed of painting as walls only have
to be decorated to within 75mm of the floor .
SAP009 will accept PVC screw infill moulds SPASC /B or G and SPAST/B or G to cover fixing screws.
SAP009 will accept PVC corner/end cap SPACS/5B or G.
SAP009 is available in 3.6 metre lengths.
