Q1. What is Internet?


Ans. Internet stands for Interconnected Network.
Internet is a network of millions of computers connected across the
world.
Q2. What is ARPANET?
Ans. ARPANET stands for Advanced Research Project Agency Network
(1969)
Q3. What are the uses of Internet?
Ans. Internet used for
1. Communication: we can communicate with anyone in any parts
of the world through email, Video calling, Voice calling
2. Online shopping: buy and sell products online through
Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm, Myntra
3. Online Booking: book travel tickets for airline/ railway/ bus
4. Elecronic Banking: Internet provides to banking at anytime and
at any place
5. Search Information
6. Entertainment: We can read books, watch videos & sports
online.
Q4. What is Modem?
Ans. Modem stands for Modulator Demodulator. It acts as a link
between a computer and internet
Q5. What is bits per second?
Ans. Bits per second is a unit used to measure the speed of a modem.
Q6. What is Data transfer Media?
Ans. A medium to transfer data from one computer to another
through internet.

Q7. What is ISP?


Ans. ISP stands for Internet Service Provider. It is an orgainization
that offers internet service. Like, Airtel, Vodafone, MTNL (Mahanagar
Telephone Limited), BSNL ( Bharat SanchaR Nigam Limited)
Q8. What do you mean by Search Engine? Give examples
Ans. Search Engine use to look for any information on the internet. A
search Engine provides the links of site. Example: google, yahoo,
bing, msn, etc
Connect internet to the computer – open web browser (google
chrome) – Type url of search engine like www.google.com, press
enter key - Type seach words – press search – list of websetes will be
opened
Q9. What is the term email? What are the parts of an email
address?
Ans. Email stands for Electronic mail.
An email is the quickest and economical medium of correspondence
between the people across the world.
Email Address has two parts: Username and domain name
Two parts of email is separated by @

Q10. Write some domain name.


Ans. It indicates a particular website. Example .com, .gov, .in, .edu
Q11. Define the term Netiquette. Write any two common manners
that should be followed while writing an email to any one.
Ans. It is formed by combining Net and Etiquette. ‘Net’ means
Internet and ‘etiquette’ means manner. It shows set of manners
followed by Internet users. Examples: Email Courtesy, Copyright laws.
Two common manners that should be followed while writing an
email are: 1. Always begin your email with proper greetings
2. Close an email with regards and your name.
3. Do not type message in uppercase.
Q12. Write any three internet safety rules.
Ans. 1. Never share the password of your online account.
2. Never provide your personal information.
3. Never share Photographs or video clips over the internet.
Q13. What is Emoticon?
Ans. Emoticons consist of two words: Emotions and icons. It means in
text message show their emotions through icons. Example:
:) – Happy
:( - Sad
:D – Laughing
;) – Winking

CHAPTER – INTRODUCTION TO EXCEL
Q1. What is Spreadsheet?
Ans. A special software in a computer to prepare worksheet is called
Spreadsheet.
Q2. Write the uses of Spreadsheet.
Ans. Spreadsheets are used for doing calculation and arranging data
in an organised manner.
Q3. Write about active cell.
Ans.
1. We always enter data in active cell
2. We can make a cell active by clicking on them or by pressing
arrow keys on keyboard.
3. Active cell has black outline

Write about it:
Quick access toolbar- Access the commonly used commands easily
Ribbon- has strip of tabs and each tab has commands in groups
Title bar – show name of the workbook. It has 3 buttons: minimze,
maximze and close on the top right corner.
Name box – has name of active cell
Sheet tabs – by default there are 3 worksheets in excel file. We can
insert more worksheet by clicking on the insert worksheet tab.
Status bar- Located at the bottom of the window. It has 3 view
options: Normal, Page layout, Page break view.
Horizontal scroll bar – move the page to the left or right.
Vertical scroll bar – move the page to the up or down.
File tab – we can open new workbook. We can print, save and send
the file. We can convert the file into a pdf.
Formula bar- displays the content of active cell. We can also enter or
edit data in the formula bar.
Column letter – columns run vertically in a worksheet and each
coloumn is identified by a letter.
Row numbers – Rows run horizontally in a worksheet and each row is
identified by a number
Cell reference- A colomn letter and row number together create a
cell reference.

Q5. What are the different methods of applying data types to the
cells?
Ans.We can apply data types to cells in 2 methods:
1. Click on the Home tab. Then click on the drop down arrow on
Number formats. At the end click on the required data type
from the list.
2. Click on the Home tab. Then click on dialog launcher in the
numer group. The click on the required data type in the format
cells. At the click ok
Q6. Write a short note on the Auto Fill feature in Excel.
Ans. Auto Fill feature in Excel helps to fill same or different data in a
sequence either vertically or horizontally.
Q7. How would you edit text in Excel.
Ans. We can edit text in Excel by – double clicking on the cell. A
cursor will appear. We can move cursor using arrow keys. The text
now can be changed, entered or deleted.
Q8. What is the difference between Workbook and Worksheet?
Ans.
Workbook Worksheet
1. Workbook consist of one 1. It is a special software in a
or more worksheets computer to prepare
worksheet.
CHAPTER – HANDLING MULTIPLE SPRITES

Q1. Write about cursor tools?


Ans. Cursor tools are located above the tabs on the Scratch window.
It includes 5 tools: Duplicate, Delete, grow, shrink and block help.
Q2. How many methods are there to add a new sprite on the stage?
List any three of them.
Ans. 4 methods.
Three of them are:
1. Choose a sprite from Library
2. Paint New sprite
3. Upload sprite from file.
Q3. How can you add a new backdrop on the stage?
Ans. Click a new project in Scratch.
Click choose backdrop from Library button
From the backdrop Library select any one option. Then click ok.
Q4. Explain the process of adding a new sound from the sound
Library.
Ans. Click on the Sound Tab.
Click choose sound from the Library
Select any one option and click ok.
