UNIT 1

Cloud Auditor :

A cloud auditor is a person or group who checks if cloud services are safe and working well.
Their main job is to review cloud systems and make sure everything is working properly and
securely. They usually focus on risk and compliance service quality.
They also help find problems and give advice to make things better or cheaper.

Trust Boundary

A trust boundary is like an invisible line that shows which parts of the system you can trust.
In cloud computing, it helps decide what is safe to use and who is responsible.
Characteristics of Cloud Computing
i)On-Demand Self-Service:
Cloud computing allows on-demand self-services. In cloud computing, you
can choose and use services whenever you want. These services can be for
storing data, internet connection, or data analysis. You can use one or many
services based on your needs. You are charged only for what you use, like a
water or electricity bill. This helps you manage your resources better and make
smart choices.

ii)Broad Network Access:

You can use cloud services from any place using any device, like a phone or
computer. Cloud providers must allow many ways to connect, such as through
Wi-Fi, mobile data, etc. Without this, only a few people could use the cloud. It
must also be safe, especially when using mobile devices. Because of this, cloud
services work smoothly across different regions and countries.

iii) Scalability or Rapid Elasticity:

One of the most flexible aspects of cloud computing is scalability.
Cloud Systems can easily handle more or less work by adding or removing
resources. This is called scalability. As business grows, other services can grow
with them. Cloud system can add more server or tools when needed. It helps
serve more users and meet different needs.
iv) Resource Pooling:
Resource pooling is one of the core components of cloud computing. Cloud
providers share their resources like servers, storage, and network among many
users. This sharing is done in a smart way so each user gets what they need. The
users don’t even notice that the resources are shared. This method saves cost
and uses resources efficiently. It's common in wireless systems like mobile
towers that handle many users at once.
v)Measured Service:
Cloud systems automatically manage resource utilization by using a metering
capability. The consumption of resources is tracked for each application and
tenant; it will give both the user and the resource supplier an account of what
has been utilized. Monitoring, regulating, and reporting resource utilization
allows for transparency for the service provider and the service user.
The metering capability is built into some level of service abstraction, which
enables transparency between the customer and the service provider. Each user
must be billed according to how much of the service they use, and the cloud
provider must be able to measure this usage.
vi)Security:
Users of cloud computing are particularly concerned about data security. Cloud
service providers store users' encrypted data and offer additional security
features like user authentication and protection against breaches and other
threats. User authentication entails identifying and verifying a user's
authorization. Access is denied to the user if they do not have permission. Data
servers are physically protected. These servers are usually kept in a secure,
isolated location to prevent unauthorized access or disruption.
vii)Budget Friendly:
Businesses can reduce their IT expenses by utilizing this aspect of the cloud. In
cloud computing, the client is responsible for paying the administration for any
space they use. There are no additional fees or hidden costs to be paid.
viii)Resilience:
Resilience in cloud computing refers to a service's capacity to quickly recover
from any disruption. The speed at which a cloud's servers, databases, and
network system restart and recover from damage or harm is a measure of its
resilience.

A Cloud Service is any service that users can access over the internet on
demand. It runs on the Provider’s server not on the user’s own local servers
Cloud services are made to give easy and scalable access to applications,
resources and services. These are all managed by Cloud Providers.
A Cloud service can be
 A Simple Web based software tool
 A Program using messaging protocol
 A Remote access point for admin tools or large IT Systems.
 Software as a Service (SaaS):
SaaS is also known as "on-demand software". It is a software in
which the applications are hosted by a cloud service provider.
Users can access these applications with the help of internet
connection and web browser.
